Wonderful acting, and a very nice script. However, I thought that The Social Network pushed the boundaries more, and was a great way of showing how technology has evolved and ushered us into a new generation. It was really between this film and The Social Network for best picture, so I have no complaints. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were brilliant in this film.mayumi
Great film, but I also think The Social Network should have won Best Picture.Chikamaharry

Very good movie, great acting and great editing. For a British talkie it was very lean on the talking.hrodric
Despite the outstanding acting of Colin Firth, this movie tells a very old story. The only difference is that the main character belongs to the royal family.Earring72

I have to agree- nice film with good performances, but I think I liked The Social Network and Inception a lot better!Pickman
Here's a winner. Wish Academy Awards were less predictable. Hell, why not Social Network?Still, The King's Speech is elegant and touching, maybe that's enough.

The most overrated film of the year, Colin Firth is very good (although he was better in A Single Man) but the plaudits it is receiving is pretty ridiculous. Any of the BAFTA nominees for best picture outclass it apart from perhaps The Fighter which is better but not by a huge amount. I left feeling it was a fairly good film with excellent performances but nothing to rave about and it felt better suited to TV to be perfectly honest.7.5/10
