Downright incredible. If you have any doubt that Emil Jannings was one of the greatest actors of all time, watch this film. Just the scene where he's terrorized by the revolutionists alone is a masterclass in acting for the screen.

The entire part taking place in Russia is not as good as the Jannings & Powell confrontation but this ending is so perfect that is worthy of a medal.

Bullshit. If this is just "a masterpiece" of silent film, solely "artistic and transcendental", and anything Soviet must be described with the noun "propaganda" somewhere, you're invited to pull your head out of your asshole. This shit is too fucking self-indulgent to take seriously. Who cares.
