Brillant dialogue. In order to appreciate the movie for its full potential, I suggest to learn a little bit about Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine and theirs children before watching it.

Such a great script and brilliantly delivered. This film is a celebration of one-liners that would be a famous quote in any other film. Some of the excuses to keep putting the cast in the same room tend to be a bit thin, but who cares? It’s great. Highly recommended if you listen closely to the dialogue. So much going on beneath the surface in every scene.

I think this is a great movie - but why anyone would categorise it as a war movie is beyond me. The nearest they get to a war is when Richard pulls a dagger on John. Classic line then from Eleanor.

Peter O'Toole was wonderful. But I had to keep reminding myself that I was watching him and not Richard Burton. Their acting styles are very close especially given a role like this.
