A little slow but it makes up for it with its incredibly engaging dialogue.

Did a pretty good job of capturing the spirit of Percy Fawcett and his travels to the Amazon from the book of the same name. The movie is a bit slow at times, but the scenery and visuals are beautiful. The only part that didn't work for me was the scenes focusing on WWI.

The life of the explorer Percy Fawcett is surreal, beautiful movie capturing some of his seven explorations to South American. There was a great deal of alterations and much romantisation in the last exploration as portraited in the film, but still, absolutely extraordinary story.

excellent, falls slightly short of being a true modern classic but has so much going for it. a rich, deeply felt story. slightly lacking in substance for its length, but never drags.

One of the worst adaptations of a book I’ve ever seen.

Not easy to get through this snoozefest. Going by the reviews I expected so much more.

There's no other way to say it but... Charlie Hunnam is a really poor actor and once you notice his inability to speak without moving his head, he becomes downright irritating.

Charlie Hunnam is an extremely handsome man and probably a nice guy also, his good looks undoubtedly has the effect that a lot of women visit the cinema, but convincing acting is not his strong side. Even his hair is more convincing than him.

Robert Pattinson, on the other hand, who also is a handsome dude, has a wide range of convincing performances, so you completely forget the role that made him famous. I look forward to see more from him in the future.

the editing in the movie annoys me. Multiple clips in scenes don't have contract to each other, which makes it look amateurish.

The scene where he explains his discoveries should have had a better structure so that you understand the time the story takes place (The White Man's Burden, Imperialism) and why they don't believe him.

Based on true events. A bit slow. And they're fooling us - the pic on the poster where he stands in a cave is false, never appears, I hate it when they do that! It's become more and more common the last 10 years (now 180201), unfortunately.

This is a very long film and I'm not sure I was happy to make it through to the end.

The Lost City of Z (pronounced Zed) is a rambling biopic about explorer Percy Fawcett's quest to find a lost civilization in the Amazonian jungle, an intermittent quest, interrupted by war and family, and one that, while worth telling, might prove frustrating for some audiences. It's got its moments, and the dialog is excellent, but structurally, it's as stop-and-go as the expeditions to Bolivia were. Ultimately, all the pieces matter, and help illuminate the characters' motivations - a sense of manifest destiny more than a destructive obsession (so there's unusual subtlety there) - and the critique of Imperialism by a man who contends the "savage" is equal to the white man for being or having been "civilized", while also struggling with the equality of women despite his progressive attitude towards his wife, makes the film relatively timely. But when not in the jungle, you will long to return to it, and while there, will be frustrated by how dingy and dark those scenes are... indeed, just like the film's protagonist. Was that the point?

Neither entertaining nor inspiring. Gray dreams about a world that is not his own.

Fell asleep during this movie, wouldn't recommend it. Hunnam delivers one hell of a speech though.
