   Who would have guessed that ending?Basically everybody I imagine,and the mistress even goes back with her son.Far too many beautiful people,thugs usually look like thugs and the Hugh Grant character was so difficult to catch all those years because he just invites any loose acquaitance move into positions of power. 3 weeks 6 days ago

   Not just Tom Hiddleston, but Hugh Laurie, Olivia Coleman and Elizabeth Debicki star in John le Carré 's The Night Manager, a taut thriller that really benefits from the 6-part structure. Or else in a movie, one imagines they would have collapsed much of the actual hotel manager stuff, and truth be told, I'd watch Hiddleston fighting evil as a refined concierge on the regular if I could. International enforcement exploits his weakness for abused women and he has to go undercover, which is also helped by the longer format, tension rising with each chapter. I like how his handler tells him to adopt an identity that would scare even her, and it's exactly what happens. The best change from the book is probably casting a very pregnant Coleman as the novel's LEONARD Burr, as it ramps up the tension on her end as well and makes for a more unusual intelligence officer. And as this was le Carré's first post-Cold War novel, it easily fits the oligarchic world of today and comes off as extremely topical. 2 years 9 months ago

   John le Carré demonstrates yet again his mastery of the thrilling spy drama. Excellent cast and production makes for an exciting ride.
