Lots wrong with this fourth installment, but most notable for me is that they portray Leatherface very, very poorly. It seems hard to balance the terrifying hulk nature of the monster with some tragic familial manipulation, but here Leatherface is so weirdly interjected on top of the story. The character seems to be written just to ape certain aspects of Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs, but also paying homage (though not progression) to the previous iterations of the character. Instead of adding any depth, it just comes off as "trans people scary" and and is super awkwardly executed. Where the rotten teeth??

Love it but really only for 2 reasons.. no doubt it is sick and twisted but that's how these movies are. Renee said on Wikipedia they worked in a small cramped RV while filming, cool interesting facts..

Much more interesting for its overt references to the
Illuminati and McConaughey's lesser-known usage of "alright, alright, alright," than anything else. After that, the movie is pure trash.

Oh and it is more commonly known as "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation"

One reviewer said that this film is like watching Twin Peaks fused with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I absolutely agree. This film is bizarre, and surreal, and strange. Sometimes it even borders on artistic. For me, this is the best in the series, right after the first one. If you're expecting it to follow in the vein of the second or the third then you will be very let down. I understand why most hated it, but for me it's lots of fun.

Not too sure what happened here, but it's not pretty. Watching Matthew McConaughey ham it up is fun enough I guess, but there's nothing scary or funny about this TCM sequel. Not to mention the really bizarre storyline.

Worth it for Matthew McConaughey acting circles around the entire cast with a mechanical leg and that awesome chainsaw/lipstick poster. Throw the rest out.

if you're watching the tcm series in order, this film solidifies your already blossoming thoughts that maybe you should have stopped after tcm 2 because it could never get as good and would definitely be worse.
