It's got some really good individual moments, some excitement, and the story has a lot more of an edge than you'd see in a Disney cartoon, but overall there were too many aimless scenes and rather poor direction that meant occasional loss of interest in the proceedings. I'm still not sure how I felt about the deus ex machina at the end - it was impressive, but the film seemed to have been taking a more sci-fi approach and then it brings in some inexplicable magic. Plus the crow was the usual terrible clumsy comic relief character that always seems to pop up in these animated films. He could have been written out with minimal changes to the story. 10 years 8 months ago -

It's pretty good, and the lead mouse character is really likable. However, I didn't like the changes from the book, with the mystical stone nonsense. And the crow is the Jar Jar Binks of this movie, crapping up every scene he's in. 11 years 8 months ago -

Such an amazing film! Whenever I name off examples of American animation at its best, this is one of them. Its sad to see animated films of this level aren't being made anymore.
...Meanwhile theres talk of remaking this into the form of a live-action/CGI movie, like Alvin and the Chipmunks. *shudder* 12 years 8 months ago
