Of cause for some people, this is old news. But it's the masses that need to change, information is power. What is good and what is bad information the algorithm has no idea about. But hey, give me a upvote, it'll like that.

Well-made documentary with lots of knowledgeable individuals. Might seem too dramatic initially, but it actually downplays the severity of the problem to not discourage people from doing anything at all.

“Throughout history, every single time something's gotten better, it's because somebody has come along to say, “This is stupid. We can do better.” It's the critics that drive improvement. It's the critics who are the true optimists.” —Jaron Lanier

It's society versus a super-computer with an algorithm that wants to reinforce our basest instincts. We don't have a chance. The Social Dilemma should be required viewing before anyone even uses these platforms.

This is a very important topic and the documentary had some valuable information from people who are tech experts. I study communication studies and it still made me remember somethings I learnt before and inspired me. However, the fiction part of the documentary is poorly made and the actual problem is that they didn't mention a lot on what to do in the future in order to give hope to people. Hope is always more inspiring than fear, but they chose fear in the making of this show.

Its ironic that a documentary about the dangerous world of biased information, fails to present any of the positive aspects of social media.

What is completely lacking in this film, is a discussion about concrete steps that can be taken on a societal and enforceable level. The EU is the only geo political entity that has given tech giants any form of significant push back in the last twenty years (GDPR, right to be forgotten,...), I don't understand why this wasn't at least mentioned. Instead, the last part of the film is a ramble on how social media is causing the end of days, and how turning of your notifications is going to change this...

Also, can we stop putting fictionalized subplots in documentaries? Thank you!

This one tries hard to seem like it's not made by a huge IT corporation that uses AI to manipulate their users. And it's like they do not make propaganda for a certain political force.

We all like seeing a documentary such as The Social Dilemma from time to time just to continue doing things like we've done them before.
