It took me a while to finally get around to this film and I am so glad I did. Possibly my favorite Fincher film, I would still say Zodiac is my favorite, but this one is close. Jesse Eisenberg gives an amazing performance, too bad he couldn't portray Lex Luther the same way. Andrew Garfield is probably the real star though, you empathize so much with his character. Also Justin Timberlake probably gives the best performance of his career, really going against type. Just a truly great film.Siskoid
Initially didn't interest me because, you know, I refused to go on Facebook at the time, but I was convinced by the movie's pedigree, namely director David Fincher and writer Aaron Sorkin. I do make a point to see practically everything these two guys have done. I wasn't disappointed in the least. The script and direction are of course, top notch, and the acting isn't too shabby either. I love a film that's thematically resonant, and The Social Network delivers on that front too, as the way practically every character is written says something - ironic or not - about their inventions or role in said invention. There's an entire essay in there if I can ever write it.Communicants

Wasn't interested enough to see the movie through. Unlikable characters, boring storyline, ... let's hope those guys aren't like that in real life!Dawizz

The spectacle is at its peak and they have managed to get the document to be really interesting. The dialogues are what drive the film forwardthemini

Written on 2 October 2010THE SOCIAL NETWORK is not about Facebook. It's about Mark Zuckerberg and the people associated with him and the consequences that arise with the evolution of Facebook. In an even broader sense, it's about friends being driven apart due to money and betrayal. Because of this, it's no surprise that many have already compared this to CITIZEN KANE. And it's not just the similarities in themes that are astounding, it's the quality as well.
What makes THE SOCIAL NETWORK so good is the masterfully written script by Aaron Sorkin. The film is filled with impeccable dialog that just sucks you in. It would be no surprise if the film won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Director David Fincher also does a great job keeping the audience captivated through and through with a consistently fast pace. Really, you'll probably be drawn to the film's opening argument between two characters than any other scene this year. All right, I'm exaggerating, but you get the point. It's not Fincher's best work, but it's in the top 3.
Jesse Eisenberg and co-star Andrew Garfield are the driving force behind this film. Eisenberg does a terrific job delivering the lines as he did while Garfield brings in an emotional aspect to the film. Although both are quite excellent, Garfield's performance is Oscar worthy. Rooney Mara is quickly getting up the ladder after having last seen her in the remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET in the beginning of the year. She's just in a few scenes, but she's great in them. I would have like to see her more in the film, though. Apparently, Armie Hammer played two characters as twins in the film, which really blew me away when I found out because I thought they were two different actors. He really distinguished the characters really well. Oh, and if you're worried about Justin Timberlake, don't be. He's really good in here. I also loved Rashida Jones in the few scenes she was in.
With terrific performances from the cast all around, a brilliant script, some fine directing by Fincher, and an engaging score by Trent Reznor, it should be no surprise that THE SOCIAL NETWORK succeeded the way it did. Although it's a 2-hour dialog driven film, it absolutely engrossing to watch. If anything, this is probably the closest modern version of CITIZEN KANE that we will ever get in a long time. THE SOCIAL NETWORK is easily one of the best films of the year. 10/10

I thought this movie would be quite uninteresting, but I was happily surprised that it was, in fact, not.The Social Network sheds some light onto the development and growth of facebook. It also presents the social interactions and people that were involved in the creation and popularization of facebook. Though the movie does not just 'go through the motions', it fails to really move beyond Zuckerberg, Saverin the Winklevoss twins.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this movie to others. Especially noting facebook's cultural relevance.

This movie is boring. And i cannot enjoy it because it portrays Mark Zuckerberg in false interpretation of his character. Only 40% of this movie was fact.I cannot enjoy a movie which had claimed as based on true story but 60% of this movie was mainly fake and fiction.

it's a quite good movie, but i cant see how it can be on so many top lists and be a "must see" movie.loads of computer language so it's impossible for it to reach out to others than the ones who understand technology well - i got overwhelmed by all the info i had to take in, and im not completely behind when it comes to computers and technology..
