Alright, not very original or surprising. But the effects were good, I liked pretty much all the actors (esp. Nic Cage looked really special in this movie)... so it was OK entertainment. Nice.

Completely formulaic "chosen one" summer blockbuster, with many plot beats stolen from The Matrix and given a mystical makeover. The special effects are relentless and uninteresting, none of the humour works, and the whole thing is weighted down by masses of arcane technobabble that drives the plot: the opening exposition scene alone is filled with so much magical jargon it feels like a lecture that there's going to be a test on later.

Agree with Roxton. Contrary to most comments below, this is actually a very solid summer blockbuster with good and imaginative visuals, while the story is kind of "run-of-the-mill" and the dialogue sometimes a bit corny.

People who claim this is horrible, have no idea. They probably have never seen disasters like "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" or "BloodRayne"!

Am I the only one who thinks this movie is good? There's a regular fantasy plot, some funny replics etc. What's so terrible about it?

I'm aware it's no deep philosophical movie, but so what? For a fantasy movie it's good!

Ah yes, yet another Bruckheimer production that almost completely wastes the talent of Nic Cage. There are some inventive scenes here and there, but there a weird emptiness throughout the film. Apparently, I'm among a small minority of people who doesn't find Jay Baruchel's voice aggravating to their eardrums.

There goes A LOT of minutes that I could have spent wisely.

Mediocre acting, bad jokes, totally predictable actionscenes, annoying voice.... actually.. only the girl was okay in this movie. And not because of her acting (that wasn't so good) but she is definitely cute!
