Besides being a very different Lynch film, it's magnificent. Loved the background score a lot, specially the principal tune.

I fell in love with Richard Farnsworth when he played Matthew Cuthbert. He brought his complexity to the role with a dignified subtlety . The pace of the film matches its main character. Never too slow and always interesting.

Okay, *now* I’ve seen all of David Lynch’s films. So strange to see this tucked between Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive! This has a lot of heart, and really feels like what you’d expect with Lynch’s style (quirky characters, a slow pace that dwells in the characters) as a family film. (Not that that combination is what you’d expect!)

So yeah, for those keeping score at home this makes… let me count… one of his films I have watched with my wife and kids.

To some other commenters:
I don't watch movies to solve riddles of symbolism.

I like food for thought, I like images to remember and I like a good story. This movie has all of it. It also shows a lot of what was great about America (I am writing this in 2018). It doesn't push or haste through the story, it flows and lets you float with it.

I remember when this story was in the news. I really enjoyed this movie, and all the characters in it. You get out into the country where people don't have a lot, but are willing to share what they have. Gives you some hope about people and our society.

Dear friend, I wouldn't call myself a 'fan' of my fellow David's work, truth be told, after so many years, my divine body is unable to feel any pleasures, let alone comprehend the notion of being a 'hard-core fan' of anything.
But, as a humble and patient observer, I take your glorious comment into account and maybe my gaze will be able to offer something better to you and the rest of my viewers.

Thank you, from the depths of my human soul... our crosstalk will haunt my mind.

Please accept this short poem that I've just written, as a token of my eternal gratitude:

"black hydrogen swishes the doors...
cadges Spanish candle bread tornesel
suckling on Sun's hoof...
that so fine my desired"

Goodbye forever my beloved companion and may God be with you.

Thank you.

Fantastic film. Doesn't seem like a David Lynch film at all. I love his other work too, but this is worth a look even if you don't like his other stuff. Just outstanding.

Somehow manages to combine Lynchian weirdness with Disney schmaltz, and it actually works.
