   I liked Jarman's use of camp, queer subtext and particularly the sexualization of Ferdinand; they all serve to dislocate and defamiliarize the play. It's a fairly bold, although not entirely successful treatment. On the whole I didn't care that much for it, as I prefer to see the colonial aspects of the Tempest addressed more seriously (or at all). I feel like Jarman's interests and concerns have been better addressed, with much greater impact, in his original work rather than in this adaptation. 9 years 7 months ago
