Boring? Ugh I've watched and loved 7 hours, black and white, nothing happened, Hungarian's Satantango. This beauty didn't come close as something that bores me.

To be honest I don't think it's fair to immediately whip out labels like these for films that experiment. If we immediately reject stuff like this as an audience (aka the people’s whose money essentially funds this), then where is film as an art-form supposed to go? I’m not saying The Tree of Life has changed movies forever but you can’t blame it for trying something different.

The film that divides people into two firm sections, The Tree of Life is artistic and inspiring, and even if you dislike it, you have to admit, it was mesmerizing visually and the narrative was more than unique. However for me, it changed my perspective and a film is supposed to strive to do that. Its just that I don't know what it changed my perspective on.

This may be one of the most beautiful films, if not the most beautiful, that I have ever seen. Every shot is gorgeous, including the often maligned beginning of the universe sequence. In all honesty, I could watch the universe creation sequence for an hour or more. The depiction of life and conflict on the universal scale wrapping into a man's childhood casts a reminder of the vastness of space, yet places an equal importance on something as small as a man's early years. I am hard pressed to find an American film that has affected me in the manner of this film.

The Tree of Life is composed of some of the most beautiful photography you'll ever see in a movie, combined with emotive music and spoken philosophic messages. However stuffing in unrelated nature scenes with voiceover feels more like an attempt of mind control, than a movie. Photography is very important for a movie of course, if it's there to enhance the plot. Where's the plot?

Pretentious. They should put this on the stores televisions so you can watch the colours and the definition of the tv. Besides that i can't think in a good use for this movie.

Pretentious bore crap-a-ton. The movie is all about a snot rich white guy mopping, he doesn't even knows why. Wake up you had a nice house/clothes/food a great mom and two younger brothers that liked/loved you! What more do you need obnoxious/un-greatful spoiled brat. Dad was harsh whit me boo hoo. Parents are parents NOT YOUR FRIENDS! They are there to teach you about life, life is not fluffly clouds sunny days pink unicorns.spoiler The day this Malick guy makes a movie I like it will be the day we (human race) solve all our problems, and have peace on Earth. Only Terrence Malick can make the big bang dull!

Stunning visuals and poetic movie that evokes many emotions but also frustrating at times and clearly not for everyone. Sean Penn is wasted. Kid actors are terrific.

Weird and beautiful. We are all very small in the scheme of things. Loved the dinosaurs.

On a day I sliced a part of my finger off, this made me feel much better. Yes, we as humans have problems, but in the end it's just water under the bridge. And that our human problems pale in comparison with the grand beauty of the universe.

Although I don't know if I "got" it, I found Tree of Life to be visually stunning and not slow or boring at all.
