quote:
There’s this moment in the seventh Matrix movie when Huggy Weaving is replicating himself over and over again, turning everyone else into copies of Agent Smith. And he says, “Me, me, me.” And I remember seeing that 20 years ago, and saying to myself, “Heck yeah. This guy gets it.” Well, the Wachooskis eventually stopped taking my calls, even after I told them I would work for rate if they let me play Smith in Matrix 9 last year. Then I get this call from some director I’ve never heard of before, and he wants me to play Nicolas Cage, and I said, “What do you think I’ve been doing for the past 58 years?” And he said, “Exactly. Life is art.” And I said, “My art begins with self-exploration. Who is Cage? Who is Coppola? What happens when you put a Coppola in a cage? My first question as an actor is about me.” And he said, “Me, me, me.” And then we gazed into each other’s eyes and simultaneously began singing Blue Swede’s Hooked on a Feeling: “Ooga chaka, ooga chaka, ooga ooga, ooga chaka. I can’t stop this feeling …”

Interesting concept at first but it wears thin pretty quickly and then the movie just goes on forever and turns into a rehashed action movie that we've seen a million times

I loved Pedro Pascal and Nic Cage in this. The fact Cage was willing to make a movie like this shows he is a unique talent

Fuck, this is my 2999th movie. I should have saved this for the 3000th one. I love Cage. This has more Cage in it than any other Cage movie.

I mean the movie is just alright, but kudos to Cage for being so self aware.

Not mad I saw it - not horribly memorable either. The main joke is "nic cage is a weirdo that overacts" and that wears thin pretty quickly without any of the usual Arthouse stuff propping him up.
I get what they were going for - broader appeal for a wider audience (they have a whole meta conversation for Christ's sake) but I prefer the straight movies where they don't wink into the camera ("do you get it? He's in on the joke?!") Like bad lieutenant, Mandy or color out of space

I totally wish Nic Cage would spend two hours lecturing to me about The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari.

Not bad but this is in essence the same starting idea as JCVD which is grittier and darker and the superior film.

La he pasado de perlas. Momentos de carcajadas genuinas. Cine y puchito en mano.
