The Usual Suspects (1995)'s comments

First off, this is one of the prime examples of the unreliable narrator on film. I recently watched it with someone who didn’t know anything about it. When it ended, he said that after feeling sympathy for Verbal for most of the movie he then felt used. He couldn’t shake that feeling. That’s the point. It’s about how evil perverts the truth and leaves the world in confusion. Afterwards we were discussing which elements of the story were real, which weren’t and especially if Keaton was really trying to get straight (if he was, then the story gets really sad). But at the end of the day these exchanges underline the goal of the movie. What’s true and what isn’t don’t matter to the man who’s pulling the strings. Everybody is a pawn to Keyser Söze. The movies is like a great magic trick that's still fascinating, even after you know how it's done. I'd suggest watching it with someone who's unaware of the twist.

And also, how can anyone say the only good thing about it is the ending when you have such a compelling cast: Byrne, Baldwin, Pollack, del Toro, Palminteri and Postlethwaite; and somehow, the fact that Spacey (and Singer for that matter) is at the center of it all, adds a real creep factor that makes the film hit even harder.
