Surprisingly solid, grounded film closer to Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips, etc.) than to Big Hollywood. The actual rescue was so terrifying that Howard wisely just gets out of the way and tells the story without added bombast. Bonus points for having many scenes in Thai, though I would have liked to spend just a little more time with the Thai rescue divers
Very good to great film. I've been to Thailand numerous times (most recently 11 days before the Tsunami) and I've caved and qualified rescue diver. Great production and performances 7.8/10
