Let The Flames Begin

When people talk about how much they love Titanic, they only ever seem to mention how great the love story is. Normally I would agree on that, being as romantic as I am, but I think the most important part is the sinking part. It is heartbreaking to see all these people who are trying to save themselves or people who just give up and try to accept the inevitable.
To me, this part outweighs the whole love story, and for this part alone, I think Titantic is worth every minute you spend watching it.

Despite its romantic excesses, cheese-factor, and other sins, Titanic is a mountainous love story that, at the very least, doesn't deserve to be cast aside as rubbish. The climactic sinking scenes are film achievements in and of themselves, and there no less than 4 very memorable scenes throughout this film.

Not many other films can claim to have created even close to the same impact. Is it perfect? No, not in the least. Is it worth watching at least once? Absolutely.

not every movie have to explore the most complex and intersectional part of the human experience to be good, and titanic proves it. Indeed, it's a prove that you can make a masterpiece, without the most pretentious dialogue, but with a good setting, relatable characters and with a flawless execution.

it's no coincidence that almost 25 years have passed since titanic and people still quote jack and rose from time to time, and they have become the paradigm of a love story.

it was hated just because teen girls loved it, and, as a group, they have had their lows, but this wasn't one. Titanic is a masterpiece.

I went in expecting to dislike it. I was proved very wrong indeed. It's perfect. Not often a film can last well over three hours and not feel long at all.

Actually, more people went to see this movie because of James Cameron directing and hearing about the amazing special effects used & the nice job that was done in recreating the titanic down to every room. Many females, the dress, hairstyles, make-up. a mix really of viewers. as to the Oscars it won, perhaps people should check out what they were for before passing judgment. Best Picture IMO though I'd have preferred Good Will Hunting or L.A. Confidential to take out, but given the previous years expected Titanic to win

Grand effects to go with a triangle love story, not to be dismissed in the history of sfx. Not much to speak for the story as such.

I do like that movie. Yes, it has its weak elements. It's not among my favorite movies, DiCaprio is acting nicely but nowhere near as well as in later movies, and no matter what anyone says - I say the raft COULD have carried both of them, it was easily big enough...
But somehow I still enjoy watching this movie. It's just an exciting and charming lovestory and I really like Kate Winslet in this film.

So all in all, not a movie I want to watch over and over again, nothing that I consider a treasure of cinema, but something about it does really appeal to me.

I never wanted to watch Titanic for a few reasons. 1) People call it Cameron's best 2) It won 11 Oscars which I thought it didn't deserve 3) The acting was a bit poor 4) I heard it was over the top 5) I heard there was a lot of cheesy dialogue and the movie could've been shortened.

Whilst I love Titanic now, its not Cameron's best nor is it worthy of standing up to 'Return of the King' and 'Ben-hur' for 11 oscars. It certainly is a great movie with a few bits of mediocre acting, some cheesy dialogue but also a powerful movie with such amazing cinematography, directing and music
