I don't even think it is possible to do a fair American remake for this movie.
Also, Americans need to get over it and get used to reading subtitles because there are a ton of good foreign movies and remaking each single one is going to be near impossible and seem stupid compared to the originals.
Troll Hunter is a Norwegian found footage/fake documentary about a mysterious and jaded man who works for the Troll Security Service managing Norway's important, well, troll population. Cue a variety of unintelligent giants with big schnauzers and legit-sounding explanations for what we know of trolls from the fairy tales (under bridges, smelling the blood of Christians, etc.). It's completely ludicrous, and it's sometimes hard to tell if it was meant as a straight horror flick or a (deadpan, oh so deadpan) comedy. And that's fine. It's an interesting line to tread. I'd like to know just how much of the film was improvised around stuff coincidentally by the side of the road that could have been the work of trolls, because it often feels like that, like an inside joke you keep bringing up to amuse yourself on a road trip. Through gorgeous Norway.
I rather enjoyed this movie. It was funny and interesting and exciting, and I liked all the characters.
And (perhaps most importantly) the camera work didn't give me motion sickness like most found-footage films do.
Love this movie. Great camerawork, good special effects and it's pretty funny and suspenseful at times. For some reason, the movie felt realistic to me (although it obviously isn't). Overall, it's just a really fun movie.
Pretty good for the found footage genre. I neither like nor dislike the genre itself... although I am a critic who finds the concept interesting enough to stay afloat, but mired in a web of its own making. Still, this film stands out.

I'm an American and have no problem with subtitles. It's too bad we're all painted as idiots because Hollywood is looking for a quick buck.lastresort09

It's frustrating to me, as an American, that Hollywood feels that Americans wont watch films that weren't made for Americans. *sigh*Siskoid

A must see :D Not overly Blair witch and smooth transitions that acually make you want to move to Norway ^ ^leannan
