   Preposterous.
   Flat, predictable and pointless movie with too much filler, suggesting quite correctly that the script hasn't enough substance on its own.
   
   Even taking into account all the previous [Dream] works, someone must have lost it bad and thought a snail racing against Indy cars was a good idea. It could have worked too, but the whole thing goes from absurd to ridiculous.
   
   Ryan Reynolds makes yet another bland and utterly forgettable effort, the rest of the cast do their thing well enough but there is no magic anywhere.
   The animation is very high class and bears the DW mark well. Looking good is not enough though, especially with the wildly impossible physics going on here. Suspending belief is almost a prerequisite to any movie, and 'Turbo' force-feeds the audience a truckload, in high speed.
   
   "So we've done ants, swamp ogres, sharks, bees, monsters, aliens, dragons, pandas and almost every other zoo animal we can think of. Heck, we even did cave people. What's next? How about a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc? Yeah, that's right. A motherf*cking SNAIL, yeah baby! And who doesn't love race cars? Maybe they could have a race because a super fast snail is like totally radical and far out dude! Woah! Pass the ganja, I'm in the zone man!"

   There are just too many leaps of logic for this to resonate in any way beyond the visuals. The non-turboed snails move much faster and with more agility than any humans, for one. Pixar may be on a down tick lately but one thing they consistently do right is to create seamless and believable worlds. Turbo's world is band-aided together by inconsistent physics and improbable rescues that consistently require new suspensions of disbelief. 10 years 5 months ago
