I watched Twin Peaks (1990s one) years ago and rated it 5/10, now i actually forgot why would I have rated a "mystery" show so low, evident from my username here.

Then I watched this 2017 season for 20 minutes and understood why. I have rated Season 3 as 3/10.

I can't stand pretentious stuff, but seeing as how high the ratings for this show are, I think there is a lot of pretense around today.

Ugh... really mixed feelings about this show. It has some really strong elements that are classic Lynch: hypnotic pacing, striking images... but then there are many boring or crappy segments and moments with unnecessary characters and additional subplots.
It can be interesting to complicate things once in a while, but don't like when filmmaker tries too hard, to the borderline pathetic point - it's really counterproductive.
Lynch's enthusiasm and creativity is something for appreciation and even admiration, but we should not automatically blindly embrace everything that he serves to us.

This show has such potential to be powerful, but only if it gets focused. Thankfully, there is much less ''soap opera'' in this season as opposed to previous two, only if David would discard some characters like that annoying ''radio host'', woman with eye patch and her lover or husband and many more...
Pretty much to be focused on Cooper, Laura's parents, especially Grace Zabriskie
(who has such a magnificent screen presence, very interesting actress as well) and of course on Laura herself (gorgeous Sheryl Lee). The last (18th) episode clearly suggests that there will be continuation and i wish Lynch would make a feature film (like Fire walk with me) about that. I don't think that another season would be a very good idea.

I mean really, let's be honest: we would rather watch trippy Eraserhead/Grandmother-like imagery than irritating secretary in sheriff's station. If you disagree then you don't really have a clue what is a true nature of David Lynch cinema.
I have read some complaints that this new season is more like Inland Empire and hardy resembles Twin Peaks. Really, people... get a grip: that's a good thing.

If you are in the mood for telenovela, try Llovizna (1997) - remarkable soap from Venezuela.
Now, let's have some Inland Empire-like Twin Peaks feature. Okay, i can take even Cooper as spoiler, just no cringe stuff like Jim Belushi trying to be a cool and funny wise guy.

~Edit~ Oh... 2 poor idiots already got upset so they needed to anonymously down-vote my comment... I wonder if they would do that if this flawed site would show profiles of who did that?
This site should have an option of replying to comments without any sort of hiding. I certainly don't go around disliking people's comments, only up-vote occasionally if i genuinely agree.
Now, let me take only two guesses what made those twats mad... Perhaps the fact that this series has so much ''soap opera'' elements to it? Or perhaps some fan didn't like how i bash that unfunny obnoxious Jim Belushi - wow, does this guy actually have fans ?
