Maybe I'm just a sucker for superhero movies that push the whole concept into unfamiliar territory but I really liked this one. It has an interesting feeling of realism to it which can make it extremely boring if you are a huge fan of the much flashier Marvel/DC comics movies. It has everything that I suppose a traditional superhero movie would have but instead it's much more subdued and grounded in reality. Easily 4/5 stars for me.
As a guy who grew up reading comics, someone who watches every superhero movie that comes out, and someone who has always loved the different stories and takes on good and evil, I have to say that this movie takes the cake and sets the bar for what an origin, let alone superhero movie should be.
All the classic Shyamalan traits are in here, achieving a somewhat interesting movie. The most interesting thing to me, though, is how it's shot. It makes a few bold decisions that may or may not have worked for everyone, but I, for one, appreciate the effort. (for example, the two opening scenes: the birth of Mr. Glass, and Dunn on the train trying to get some)

This seems criminally underrated. With the exception of the final few frames, this is tense film-makingJashezilla

Prior to this, I watched Signs, which I didn't really enjoy, so I didn't have high hopes for this film. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised.sushantv10

I find Shyamalan movies boring but this one needed to be like thisAlso, the Samuel L. Jackson caracther's love and knowledge for comic books fits him very well.
Nice one Shyamalan.
