From the moment the film started rolling, I knew I was in for a treat. I knew it was going to be good as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes if not better. And boy did it exceed all of my expectations. The soundtrack itself is something to marvel for. The way the editors placed the music throughout the movie was fascinating and added to the movies overall awesomeness. The story made perfect sense and the plot twists were engaging and surprising. I loved more or less all the characters and was invested in them. I hope to see another movie in the franchise because this whole franchise is gold!

Movie states more of the case of how motion-capture is another form of acting, as Andy Serkis would have it. A very gritty and emotional action picture, with the brave execution of nearly 1/3 of the movie focusing solely on the point of view for Caesar and his ape allies, communicating in very basic English and sign language (subtitled). You've never seen this many apes, and performed so well, in any of the Planet Of series, I guarantee it.Armoreska
a Scuffle for a Region with some ApesRalf
Simply breathtaking from the first shot to the very last. I love how it's a prisoner of war film.The_Comatorium
In the world of Apes, this was the Return of the Jedi.Siskoid
War for the Planet of the Apes completes the prequel trilogy to the 1968 original, smartly connecting the dots between eras and explaining some of the elements that, I'll have to admit, never really made sense until now, though I found one or two pieces of dialog a little on the nose, "forecasting" the future. A very small complaint, as this film, of a piece with Dawn, follows Caesar and his crew of apes, facing off against a charismatic general (Woody Harrelson) bent on exterminating his kind. Shades of Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan and The Great Escape, as writer-director Matt Reeves references his favorite war films in plot and visuals. The Apes films have always been political - all the good ones anyway have been about how we treat the "other" - but this one, without focusing on a single metaphor, feels very contemporary. The Trump era casts a dark shadow over it, a shadow that reaches back in time to the Civil War, and makes the film more potently about race relations in America. I don't know where film makers go from here if they want to keep the franchise alive (interstitial films? straight to a third remake? look beyond the Heston timeline?), but it's almost a shame it has to end here. (Then again, I'm all for going out on a high.)roddy1996
solid ending to a consistently entertaining trilogyEarring72
Great looking and sounding movie with a powerfull story. A bit over dramatic but very rewaring (end?) of the trilogyvril
how did it evolve the story further? you can make 100 films with battles of human vs. ape but its the same story just different setting.. i wanna see how they become more human like it was when the space guy returned to earth..chunkylefunga
