this movie was exactly what i expected: an over-the-top, campy teen flick with a couple plot twists, historical inaccuracies, and severely cheesy dialogue.
it was pretty fun, even if some of the details were off — for a movie about "heavy metal", the couple minutes of music involved were basically lighthearted glam rock, and the costume design (makeup, clothing) was all wrong.
oddly enough, i think my biggest complaint might lie with the two gas station scenes, though: paying $30 for a couple items in 1988?! that would be $70 in $2021! (did no one think to use an inflation calculator??)
(i'd like to be able to give bonus points for namedropping Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, etc, but ... unfortunately, the writers didn't bother to use Google in the research phase, 'cause they completely forgot about a (very well-known) EP that Metallica released in 1987 — minor gripe, sure, but it was such a blatantly avoidable error that it got on my nerves. they really should have consulted at least one thrash fan in the creation process, yikes.) 2 years 10 months ago
