It did not work for me. The cruelty of heathcliff was not even shown aside from a few phrases and a short slapping of Cathy and Cathy was merely depicted as an innocent girl in love with a stable girl rather than the wicked madwoman she really was. Decent cinematography and acting though, but the adaptation was a complete mess otherwise. 8 years 6 months ago

This is a beautiful movie. Doesn't quite cover the whole book, but the acting, design and camera work are all impeccable. Ever notice how big Olivier was? He's so good he can play someone small and look small doing it, but in this he looks enormous! 13 years 8 months ago
