As a movie it is a spectacular failure with weak story, shallow characters, random whimsy, mostly below average song and dance numbers and clunky dialogue. Its redeeming qualities are cheesy special effects, a sweet animated sequence (done by Don Bluth's team of animators) and the admitedly good ABBAesque titel song Xanadu, which is hardly enough to let it off the hook as one of the biggest bombs of the 80s.

How can the movie that inspired the Razzies be on no top lists?? A nonsensical tribute to roller disco that's as ridiculous as it is funMalena
