   It's insufferably corny-- there's not enough Adam Sandler-- it has a teeeeeeeeerrible soundtrack-- the script has thirteen year olds talking like screenwriters who are trying to talk like thirteen year olds-- and it features an unlikable pair of rich kid lead characters navigating a scenario that almost anybody out there could've made more interesting and genuine. The Sandler daughters are OK. Most of the kids are terrible. Sarah Sherman is abysmal. Not her fault. It's the writing and the loosey-goosey directing that are flawed the most.
   
   Sometimes movies come out and low expectations turn them into critical darlings. This has a 97 per cent on RottenTomatoes and a 71 score on Metacritic. Those are higher aggregates than... let's see... Clueless, Mean Girls, But I'm a Cheerleader, 2005's Pride and Prejudice, Ten Things I Hate About You, Superbad, even something like Inglourious Basterds. I mean... if you say so, I guess...? Who am I to judge?
   
   PS: I would recommend the series PEN15 to anyone who wants to see a more realistic and funnier approach to the same sort of dorky popularity-obsessed teenage milieu. 7 months 2 weeks ago
