I completely agree, jellekralt. This is NOT a movie, movies have more effort put into them, than cutesy sitcoms like The Big Bang theory can ever pretend to have. Adding television shows is just a cheap way of inflating the number of things you've seen. Just because soon I can choose to filter what I see on this site, doesn't mean I can't complain.
It looks like it came off an assembly line for movies that specializes in cute talking animals, yet it's largely cute and inoffensive to anyone. Nothing wrong with that.
A bit more energy this time around, thanks to some solid direction by David Slade, and GASP! more of an actual plot!, yet there's still plenty of the same boring love triangle carried over from New Moon. There's too many scenes that seem to repeat themselves.
Terrific B-movie. The horror of the first two Evil Dead films, has been replaced by sly comedy. Despite the shift in tone, Raimi is in control of the it and makes a entertaining film.
This film, along with 'Mars Needs Women,' confirms my theory that all B-movies with great titles are just plain awful. You shouldn't expect much from a B-movie called 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,' especially if everything you need to know about it is in the title, yet there needs some credibility to it, in the form of some decent writing. This film has none of that, here the actors recite inane and sincerely bubble brain dialogue, and do stupid things. It is also badly made.
What a silly film, and that's part of it's charm. Yes, there are obvious continuity errors in the ratio between the objects that the giants hold and when the regular actors are holding them, watch the scene in which Beau Bridges is given a bucket of chicken and a coke, which miraculously grow in size when he holds it! There's a lot of errors like that in the film, yet everything is held together by solid direction from Bert I. Gordon, and his cast, which include a young Ron Howard and Toni Basil, who are all energic and joyful. Everything here is underlined by a cool surf rock sounding soundtrack. This film tries real hard, and it sort of pays off in a weird way.
Awful film, even for the standards of a made for television. One of the most languid B-movies that I've ever seen. You name it, this movie does it awfully. The pacing is at a snails pace, the direction is inept and amateur, and the rest of the production suffers from the same thing. The actors are all monotone, with no trace of joy or even interest in the material that they are reciting, not helping is the inept sound recording. This puts B-movies in general to shame. The best thing about this film is the title.
A cute little romantic film. There are times when little aesthetic touches that make it feel somewhat like a TV movie, not to mention a bit dated, the producing credit by Aaron Spelling I don't think helps with that, yet Short and O'Toole have good chemistry, and are situations they encounter on their date feel more true to life than most of anything to have come out of that same time period.
Just finished watching it today, and enjoyed the hell out of it. It just became a new favorite of mine. Polanski crafts, aided by an excellent script by Robert Towne, a very well made thriller, a homage to all those Dashell Hammett and Raymond Chandler private eye novels. I honestly could rewatch this again at this very moment, and wouldn't hesitate. Nicholson and Dunaway are in top form here, with an excellent score by Jerry Goldsmith to underline everything. I can't think of a thing that's wrong with it, a perfect film.
A lame paint by the number Judd Apatow rip off. Completely unfunny. All the characters, aside from Baruchel and Eve, are loud, vulgar, and stupid. You know you're in trouble with your movie when one of the antagonists tells the main character he can have better friends than who he has now.
One of Hitchcock's most wildly frenetic films, with a pace that is that is matched and complimented by Bernard Herrmann's great score. North By Northwest was the first modern chase film of it time, with a superb screenplay by Ernest Lehman, and very witty performance by Cary Grant, and great performance all around, it's everyone's finest hour here.
The low budget and cabin setting provide for some great atmosphere. Very scary picture, yet there are some visual trademarks of what Raimi would be doing throughout his career. Some bits of very dark humor appear throughout, and Evil Dead is most promising for Raimi's first outing as a director.
I don't get the hype behind this film. All that tethers the story is one ludicrous scene after the next. The scene's have no point, other than to shock or thrill, which it does neither. Howell and Hauer have nothing much to perform or extemporize with their characters. That famous scene involving the truck at the end is good, but once you take away that you have a very bad picture.
A film almost not worth writing up. Desperation in the scenes is present at almost every frame of the film. Kutcher doesn't have a character to play as usual, and Diaz is wasted. Watching these two play war of the sexes is about as exciting as watching paint dry, and the jokes are just as engaging. Aside from a scene stealing Dennis Farina, this is a worthless movie.
Murphy must have thought that this was money in the bank, returning back to the well that scored him one of his few hits from the 90's, The Nutty Professor remake. While that film had heart and a sweet lead in Sherman Klump, this one replaces that with a wimpy lead, obnoxiousness, and a constant barrage of below the belt humor. Norbit might have been only about 90 minutes, but it felt like an eternity watching it in the theater.
Definitely better than Norbit, still not saying much. Probably will entertained younger audiences, who have not seen any of Murphy's earlier work, it most certainly won't entertain or engage any of his more veteran fans. The story and jokes are somewhat passable for a kid's movie, yet the movie lies inert onscreen, and the lack of any of Murphy's trademark wisecracks doesn't help matters.
Excellent adaption of the Portis novel by the Coen Brothers, that's actually superior to the original. The film has uniformly exceptional direction, writing, cinematography, and acting, especially from the three leads, Stanfeld, Damon, and Bridges, as the crotchety Rooster Cogburn. Jeff Bridges completely dives into the role, at a certain point you forget that's Bridges up on the screen.
