I felt like the images themselves were beautiful, and sometimes the camera-work contained shots which were aesthetically pleasing, but overall I agree with BlueVoid on the point that the film-making seems relatively devoid of emotion.
The Coen Brothers' phobia of contractions is especially over-evident in this film. I imagine a press conference for the film going something like this:
CB: "We refuse to use contractions."
Interviewer: "You can't or you won't?"
CB: "We cannot and we will not."
Despite that point about semantics though, the film was overall enjoyable, though not spectacular. Someone once said they had a hard time picturing Matt Damon as a cowboy, and I agree. 7/10... still wondering if this will make my top 10 films of the year.
First of all, I want to thank you guys for your hard work; I know it must be difficult, and you're not even getting paid! Secondly, I had a question regarding this new update: will TV shows and episodes (which I personally would also like to see eliminated from iCM) still be able to creep into the Most Favorite list?
I don't know why this is currently titled "De volmaakte moord" instead of its English title, "Double Idemnity"; There isn't even an English alternate title!
okay, I just tried leaving two comments and both seemingly disappeared into the abyss (they aren't showing up on the "wall" below)... hopefully this is a temporary glitch, as I often come here to read others' comments.
@sushantv10: Up until "import any movie" English titles for foreign films still yielded results for that film. This is because English titles were commonly included as alternate titles on the iCM page. However, that may have changed with movies imported using the new feature (I'm not sure).
I liked this movie. But then I "deducted a point": I started thinking about how it would be impossible to cast people for this film and be consistent with its message.
I'm still a little confused: if i import my votes history from IMDb, will all of the titles be added (that is, excluding ones added by other users)?
Also, I'm with the people who say we should be able to filter out tv episodes and video games... I would even go further as to say that no one REALLY wants these things on iCM anyway, so why not get rid of them altogether?
I don't understand why Daybreakers isn't on here. Although I've never seen it, it has a higher rating than Wall Street 2 which currently #50 on this list with a 6.5 vs. Daybreakers' 6.6.
Daybreakers also has well over double the amount of votes. I suppose it could be argued that this has to do with IMDb's enigmatic "regular voters" but this is still confusing considering the vast difference in the number of votes.
