I would love to see the Ex- Top1000 list as well. Please add it.
And Tomsalad there is a great War film list, it's the 101 War Movies You Must See Before You Die. It's pubished by the same people who did 1001 Movies You Must...
"Re: the Brief Encounters list - the IMDb Classic Film board compiled a complementary list focused on animated shorts and directors. It can be found here: http://alsolikelife.com/shooting/2009/08/100-important-directors-of-animated-short-films/"
Would love to see that animated list on Icheckmovies: http://www.listsofbests.com/list/27402-imdb-classics-board-105-best-essential-and-complex-animated-shorts?page=1
I think it would complement the other lists nicely as this one focuses not only on animated shorts, but also on the evolution of the genre and the historical significance of each short.
The 50 best cartoons of all times is a great list, but because of it's nature, leaves out a lot of significant animated shorts.
Yeah, I don't think the bottom list belongs here at all.
I'm with Crinderman, this site is about top lists.
I would even be o.k. with a list of "so bad it's good" movies selected by film lovers or critics; but that list is really just people hating a movie so much that they give it the worst possible rating. That makes those films pretty much unwatchable.
I don't think there is a top 100 Christmas movie list. And frankly I don't see how you could get to a 100 great or even good Christmas movie. I can barely think of 10.
Please don't add the Bottom 100. It's a dumb list. Most of those films are just bad bad as in unwatchable, not bad good or bad camp as in fun. If a film is enjoyable I sure as hell am not going to rate it a 1 out of 10.
I just found out that Martin Scorsese just selected his 11 Scariest Horror Movie of All Time for Halloween. Here You Go:
1. The Haunting (Robert Wise, 1963)
2. Isle of the Dead (Mark Robson, 1945)
3. The Uninvited (Lewis Allen, 1944)
4. The Entity (Sidney J. Furie, 1981)
5. Dead of Night (Alberto Cavalcanti, 1945)
6. The Changeling (Peter Medak, 1980)
7. The Shining (Stanley Kubrick, 1980)
8. The Exorcist (William Friedkin, 1973)
9. Night of the Demon (Jacques Tourneur, 1957)
10. The Innocents (Jack Clayton, 1961)
11. Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960)
Great! The New York Times List is a very welcome addition. I think a lot of us here are fans of these long 1000 greatest lists.
How about these:
- 1000 Films to see before you die compiled by the magazine The Guardian.
http://film.guardian.co.uk/1000films/0,,2108487,00.html
- Have You Seen...?: A Personal Introduction to 1,000 by renowned Film Critic David Thomson.
http://www.amazon.com/Have-You-Seen-Personal-Introduction/dp/0307264610
- 501 Must See Movies by various critics.
http://www.amazon.com/501-Must-See-Movies-Various/dp/0753710676/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256934914&sr=1-1
- 1000 Best Movies on DVD by Film critic Peter Travers from the Rolling Stones Magazine.
http://www.amazon.com/1-000-Best-Movies-DVD/dp/1932958525/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256935039&sr=1-2
- Time Out 1000 FIlms to Change Your Life.
http://www.amazon.com/Time-1000-Films-Change-Guides/dp/1904978738/ref=pd_sim_b_4
If These Lists were on Icheckmovies, I would call it the greatest movie site on internet.
Basically, pretty please with lots of sugar on top, could you add these lists?
Can everybody here vote 1 on this film and every other film that have less than 5000 votes and that are virtually unknown and/or don't have dvd releases or any world wide recognition. I mean this is why these IMDB lists become ridiculous.
