Anyone lese.. probably other Brits...The guy flirting with the large lady ... Doesn't he bring to mind Leslie Philips?
Has anyone else, not British have any idea who / what I am talking about?
Short and sweet.. very effective little B pic that delivers all the way through.
One of a series of (I think it is) 7 similar things linked as 'The Whistler'.. a spoken introduction by a shadow figure who .. well, whistles.
Mild spoiler alert...
Err.. right.. that was interesting.. I'm not sure I followed everything (such as why the guy tried to shoot his wife).. but it was certainly something very different.
Martian women may have 3 breasts, but they speak Russian..
Mars is now truely the red planet
The list 'More Noirs from TSPDT' stretches the definition of 'Noir' quite a bit.. but I think this one takes the stretch to just about breaking point. I'm not saying it's a bad film.. just.. well, don't expect anything more Noir-ish than some shadows...
Hey, this is really quite good.
The truncated 44 min version shows it is cut.. but still well worth a watch,
Be aware that it;s more a vamp than a vampire...
Cippenham..
Many thanks for the try, but I'm afraid the link is to 'The Sicilian', a 1987 film with Terance Stamp, Jos Ackland..
Sorry, but many, many thanks for trying - I really appreciate the effort!
Imagine Sherlock Holmes meets James Bond...
Evil criminal master mind with an complicated plan operating from a large hide out full of equipment & henchmen, that gets blown up at the end (spoiler? Oh come on.. you really think the bad guy wins??), foiled by a replica Holmes & Watson...
Sorry, I just don't get it.. a glorification of stupidity, ignorance and bigotry? A film where the John Wayne character - in comparison- comes out as the reasonable one?
I spent a moderate amount of time whilst watching this thinking 'I've seen this before..' whist knowing full well I hadn't..
but then i remembered.. There is a large chunk of 'Stromboli' that contains a similar bit...
Sorry.. but all I could think of was pencils moving and shifting..
I quite obviously missed the point.
(ouch, that was accidental pun, I do apologise, I only saw what I had put when i was about to hit 'add comment)
Most enjoyable.
OK, one misses Humphrey Bogart and maybe Lauren Bacall.. which would have made it great, but after 10 mins of 'disappointment' about that, you settle down and get as confused and lost as you should expect.

Decidedly 'B' grade, with some very cheesy moments, but I've sat through some MUCH worse films that have made it into the 'More Noirs from TSP' list.Movie comment on Night Editor
