@Jumping Elephant: we acknowledge that not everyone likes the tv-series and episodes. iCheckMovies 2.0 will be customizable to a great degree, including the possibility to filter out tv-series and episodes. By the way, iCM most favorite list from now on only contains movies, that was a bug.
@monoglot: a separate look for movies in top lists is a nice suggestion.
@Mackmannen: editing comments is coming in iCheckMovies 2.0
@mjf314: good suggestions! Will be coming in a future update.
Tomorrow also added the feature that when there is only one search result, you will get redirected to that result automatically.
@bal3x, @Jumping Elephant: it does not matter functionally, but it does greatly improve the time it takes to import the votes. In short: when you have the option, try to have all titles on one page (and notice the increase in speed).
@torex: your issue is a known one, and is being worked on.
We will look into the votes count being displayed incorrectly. The data is correct, onpy the display is incorrect.
Furthermore, the top lists will only use movies (although it may still take some days before they have all been categorized). More detailed replies to questions will be coming.
Our servers are having an incredibly hard time trying to process everything you guys put into them. That is one of the reasons why we will have to be making money soon, as our server park needs to be upgraded soon.
We will do our best to get things up-and-running as soon as possible.
@MovieDearest: yes, that will be an option.
@Prequel: please read our statement about personal top lists
@Jumping Elephant: yes, all titles will be added.
We will be working very hard on fixing the existing problems. Bear with us!
Thanks for all the feedback. We do acknowledge that there are things that need to be sorted out. Rest assured that we will look into all the issues raised. As for now, if you don't use iCM to keep track of all your checks, just consider it as a way to fill the database with movies that you will be able to use in creating your own top lists.
I have just removed all the off-topic posts. Please refrain from using the comments as an off-topic discussion forum, use private messages or another website/medium for that. Thanks in advance.
p.s. Ikiru rising in the list is definitely a good thing :)
We'd love to do a forum of our own, but that actually is quite a lot of work. Rest assured, we do want to do something like that but for the moment the Facebook page is the best alternative (for everyone that has a Facebook account).
@SilentWarrior
1) The compatibility is an idea we were toying with, but this will probably not be in the final version.
2) The avatar now has been added "magically". In the final version, the owner will be able to specify an avatar.
We love the idea about adopting user-created lists, that is exactly what we're going for. Thanks for the positive comments guys, I felt a bit sad yesterday!
And yes, the number of checked movies will only take into account those movies that belong to one or more top lists, just like it is now. The competitive aspect of the website is thus left unchanged.
I'm actually kinda surprised by the comments, but maybe I need to put some things straight. First of all, the focus of the website does not change, this is just an additional feature. Top lists will remain the heart of the website, the top users, neighbors and recommendations will all be calculated the exact same way in iCM 2.0. That means that only movies in the top lists created by us will be taken into account for those algorithms. New movies will not be taken into account, unless they make their appearance in one of the top lists.
Furthermore, this is an essential feature to allow you guys to create personal top lists. We have very limited time and there have been dozens and dozens of top lists suggested that we would love to add to the website, but for which we cannot find the time. Allowing users to create personal lists only makes sense when new movies can be added, as one otherwise ends up with the same lists over and over again.
The personal top lists are also an optional feature, if you do not want to they will not be shown.
All in all very little changes, so I hope that I have reassured you.
