It seems like most of the functions people are clamoring for (check any movie they've seen, ability to rate/rank movies, create lists and track one's progress, search by actor/director) are already available on Criticker. The one thing this site does that Criticker doesn't is that it's very easy to compare how many movies you've seen to someone else. If I could somehow combine the functionality of both sites, I'd be in movie nerd heaven.
@Knaldskalle: That's not quite what I was talking about since doing that doesn't change my overall # of checks or my view of anyone else's overall # of checks, but thanks for showing me anyway. Really what I was looking for was a way to see how many checks I had (or others had), if I limited the scope to selected number of lists.
"The only bad thing about this is that it means no more "I'll watch it, if it's on ICM."
What I'm hoping for is that 2.0 allows you to consider only the lists that are meaningful to you. If I could, say, select the dozen or so lists that I most want to track (and compare my progress with others), that is more meaningful to me than having to bring in lists that I don't care about (ww box-office gross, for example).
Seems like a win-win to me. If the upgrade features are worth the $, then I'm fine with paying for them. Otherwise, the functionality of the free site is still there, and I've been enjoying that.
