I like Michael Bay and he didn't disappoint as a director. However, Ehren Krueger, as always, disappoints as a writer. That man should not be allowed near writing software.

Great movie. Don't fix what ain't broke, right? Hell, the way they end up in the same situation is part of the joke, so I don't see why people are so negative about it.

Not really a bad movie, but it squanders its premise and the final twist feels more like a light turn.

Haters gonna hate. This isn't the best action movie ever, and the plot holes are as wide and deep as the Grand Canyon, but hot damn if it isn't entertaining.

Huh. It cut me off. I was just going to follow that the family and the girl Ruth were arguably the most interesting characters, and that the film should have followed them more-so than the killer, because it undermines the lasting effect of the film despite his character being so great and chilling. He needed to be used sparingly.

Not quite as bad as people say. The CGI was aggravating in some scenes (the bottles in the ocean, the heaven montage) but didn't make up enough of the film to ruin it. Really, my biggest complaint was that Tucci got most of the screen time (or it at least felt like it). He was phenomenal in the role and I probably would have been irked if he had minimal screen time, but that still would have been a better artistic choice.

The CGI wasn't the problem. Not focusing on the main character or h

Good mystery movie, I wouldn't really call it a horror film because... it's just not scary. Well-made, thought provoking, tense, strange, entertaining? Yes. Scary? No.

A few stylistic choices aside, a very well-made and thought-out true crime drama. After the major event, I feel like it peters out, but it's such a short amount of screen time afterward that it doesn't really matter. Definitely a tough film to rate, but I'd recommend it.

This wasn't a comedy. This was a psychological drama.

Really good romantic dramedy. The sex scenes were especially well shot and the comedy was effective. Hathaway did a brilliant job (which was definitely not adequately shown in the trailers), and Gyllenhaal was energetic as always.

Definitely deserved more praise.

Hey, for a $500,000 production budget, I thought it was alright.

Yeah, as a movie it was was dumb as shit, but I was still impressed by how well-made it was. The script was its downfall.

Now that's how you do neo-noir.

Not exactly a mansion, more of a larger than normal house... of the doomed.

Classic Aussie horror movie, with none other than Grant "Motherfucker" Page as the villain. Definitely needs more attention.

Great, until the anti-climactic ending. I dunno, it felt like they were beginning he third act and suddenly--BOOM, end.

Overall though, a nice, relatively cheap movie with some quality performances and an interesting take on a pretty typical plot.

Not the best film of all time by any means, but certainly a fine accomplishment. It's also far more easy to follow and humorous than most people seem to infer while talking about it.

This is without a doubt the only time I have ever disagreed with Guillermo del Toro's opinion.

Tommy isn't on any top lists? Not even musicals? It has Elton John in giant Dock Martins for Pete's sake!

The entire time I was watching the movie, I kept thinking to myself that this film must be on several lists. And nada. How the hell does that happen?

Funny little hidden gem. Ben Stiller's cameo as a "Whale of a Cop" is comedy gold, as is the bit with Jerry Stiller's titular character's big-budget bomb "The Whole Story of America".

Some of the best, most well-executed slasher kill scenes I've ever seen. Too bad the movie was almost as bad as the first one.

My problem with the Hatchet movies is that while they claim to be bringing back old school American horror, they're often too self-aware or jokey about it, and that just ruins the whole point.

Awesome ending, though.

Yeah, silly twist, but overall an excellent little thriller. Nothing life changing, but worth at least one watch. Paxton is fantastic, both as an actor and director.

Flawed, but certainly an entertaining watch. Essentially, I'd call it watered-down David Lynch, which for some might not be such a bad thing, with heavy dose of Cronenberg.

Very simple film, but I was entertained, so I'll call it a success. Also, pretty surprising hearing Kwanten's real accent after three years of True Blood. It almost makes him LOOK different.
