I liked this much better when I was a younger kid. Back then it was one of the greatest movies I had ever seen. Watching it a little older you realise there's too many plot holes and problems with the logistics and rules of time travel. Why don't Marty and Doc begin to fade out in timelines that aren't their own, because even though they may be alive in those timelines, their personalities would be drastically changes by those events? Why do Marty and Doc attempt to alter the future when anything that happens there is going to be changed anyway by the natural flow of time?
Ah well, maybe I should stop focusing on the trivial things and focus on what the movie is. Still, the whole alternate timelines thing is what made it so cool, so when that falls apart...
Oh come on, Four Rooms, Sin City, and Grindhouse don't count. Sure he directed parts of them, but I don't think they should be included as hsi filmography.
Why are the comments now on a separate page? That doesn't help anyone.
Why are the official lists a total pain to browse through, unless you’re looking in "progress"?
Really, I have to pay money to add a movie to my watch list from the search results?
My advice: Movies on lists (official lists, search results, etc) are too big. Make them smaller so it’s easier to see more without having to scroll.
Put the comments on the same page as the movie/news/list.
Have a list of the most popular movies on the front page is pointless, as there’s a list for that already, and the movies aren’t likely to change.
The paid account features actually need to be worth money. Marking movies as owned? I can do that on Blu-Ray.com for free, and even there it’s superior as I can choose specific versions, and record when the last time I watched it was.
Well, at least they didn't put advertisements all over the place...
Oh, and a strange glitch happened. Gone With The Wind completely disappeared from my watchlist, and the top movie in that list (Sunset Blvd.) was now numbered "2", even though Gone With The Wind wasn't the No. 1 I had on that list.
EDIT: But I do like the ability to edit comments now.
For me it's on par with A Fistful of Dollars, maybe not as good though. The plot gets pretty complicated towards the end though, though not nearly as bad as Once Upon A Time in the West.
@Paperback-Writer: About the "one long tone", that's something I totally agree with. I can't stand movies that are absolutely nothing but doom and gloom for their entire run-time. I'm not saying there should have been a scene where Hitler and Eva dance to a Chuck Berry song, but at least provide something lighter that makes the heavy stuff seem heavier and the story more human.
Kinda sad how this movie was once in heaps of lists when the festival-goers were seeing it and then it dropped out after all the teeny-boppers and dudebros saw it.
Um, it's IMDB. Like anyother list on the IMDB section of the lists.
I'm kinda disapointed that Hearts of Darkness keeps kinda just popping in and out. I mean come on IMDB voters, it's the "making of" to end all "making of"s.
I saw the original theatrical cut (on the Eureka Blu-Ray). It's great but not fantastic. Apparently some scenes were even shot without Welles' knowledge, and you can tell. I will check out the restored version sometime next week later and see if I like it more
@nicolaskrizan: The fact that there's no gender perspective (or black people) was either done deliberately to reflect the times the movie was made or just happened like that as a result of the times the movie was made.
@Mr Burns: Well, Citizen Kane (Warner Bros) and Touch of Evil (Eureka/Universal) were both released this year on Blu-Ray. Maybe other companies who own Welles stuff will take the opportunity.
