An amazing visual experience. By far the most coherent lynch movie. I loved it.

Standard cold war 80s thriller. Rises above slightly with Gene Hackman and the always excellent Will Patton as the "bad guys"

This movie is quite brilliant in it's use of shadows and lighting to create the suspense and it's use of make-up and reaction to create the fear of the phantom. I saw no blood and no actual dead body yet it was creepy and suspenseful all the same. I have a great love and respect for all silent movies because they had to work extra hard to produce the results some douche with a computer can today. The ones I've seen are a ton better than the useless, boring dreck that is put out these days.

Like a fine wine, The Ghost Writer takes one ingredient and infuses comedy, thriller and politics with notes of noir, Hitchcock and Wells and creates such a sly and subtle suspense the end sneaks up on you and you're left wondering what happened. And you realize that you've just experiences something really great. The plot seems simple enough and not really intense, yet Polanski always weaves something extra into his movies that makes them that much better. The performances of the actors involved are above par and the writing is very good with such subtle hints to the audience and the protagonist that you really have no idea who the bad guy is until the end. The cinematography was really great; it all felt very dark and brooding and the foghorn was a nice touch. The editing was also spot on; there really wasn't a wasted scene. I've been a huge fan of Polanski ever since I first saw Frantic and he has not disappointed yet.

Really enjoyed this underrated gem. Very taut and suspenseful, the action scenes are done well and the acting is good. Very cool to see early Rutger Haur, he is always fun to watch and a Billy Dee Williams sighting is always welcome.

A wonderful, sweet movie that sweeps you up very lightly takes you along the story of The Vonn Trapp family. The last Rogers and Hammerstein play, it still retains the lightheartedness that made all their plays so magical. Like a Disney movie, you're never in any real danger, but no one ever meant for you to be.

City Lights is simply put one of the best movies out there. Every scene is classic and had a huge impact on the history of film-making. Current Studio heads should be made to watch these classic movies and instead of shallow unfunny films, might actually put a little heart into it.

Beautiful and heartfelt. Brody's quiet charm really comes out. This movie is just as much a masterpiece as Schindler's List.

Amazing film, brilliantly conceived, brilliantly directed. The acting is top notch as always with Lumet. The social commentary is not too heavy and is as true today as it was 41 years ago.

Don't know why no one has commented on this movie. This is one of my favorite westerns. Not an original story, nor historically accurate, the style seems to take a lot from other western directors, but it is put together beautifully and the casting is brilliant.

Beautiful and brilliant, a masterpiece. I didn't actually find it depressing but it really makes you think about your life and the choices you make. The more I watch Kurosawa the more that I see how brilliant he really was.
