That optical illusion scene with the bird/cage image was lifted straight out of Sleepy Hollow. Not sure how I feel about that.

A movie aimed at disparaging the desire to escape from blacks as a whole, while also providing the justification for doing so. Funny that.

Awful.

A haunting slow burner, drawing out like a hot knife to the conclusion.

Incredibly well done.

A skidmark upon the face of Hopkins' filmography.

After having seen well over 5,000 movies (as jy profile indicates,) this has to easily be the most egregiously horrendous piece of shit I've ever been subject to.

Seriously, I thought long and hard on the drive home if I'd ever seen anything worse. Nope, couldn't think of anything.

A film made for the intellectually disabled and those who hate cinema. A mirthless turd that needs to be uninvented, and public apologies issued to those who even chanced to experience it.

A legitimate 0/10.

As much as I enjoy these Korean gangster flicks starring Song, there's absolutely nothing new here. Very enjoyable if you like the genre, but fairly pedestrian for the most part.

Very enjoyable police procedural/gang movie set largely in the ghetto 'no go' zones of culturally enriched Marseilles. Certainly worth a watch.

Absolutely horrendous. I can only assume this was written by someone with a mental disability. The first thirty minutes or so weren't bad, but it gets worse. And worse. And worse, and worse, and worse...

Frank Lammers is basically the Dutch-speaking equivalent of Ray Winston, with just a touch of James Gandolfini thrown in. King of dad bods.

Ferry is a tight gangster thriller, only rarely relying on tropes to get the job done. A very original effort in an era where originality is hard to come by.

Harrowing tale of survival in a brutally unforgiving climate. Mikkelsen was putting on a clinic, fine performance.

Not bad, has its moments. A couple of mushy scenes, but overall wholesome viewing.

I'd read the reviews before watching, and have to admit... I was expecting worse.

The train altercation with the terrorist is fast-paced, quick, and quite realistic in that sense. But the pre-amble consisting of the main characters feels tacked on and utterly worthless.

Worth watching if you're an Eastwood fan, but really nothing special.

Way better than anticipated. Some dodgy cuts and transitions, and it did seem like it was dubbed in places; but really, the 5.1 rating is unjust in my opinion. I'd say this is a solid 6-6.5 - definitely worth a watch on an idle night.

Sorely underrated and under-appreciated. A fine historical piece, Vincel Cassel's acting is masterclass.

Very monotone, though not a bad film at all. The accents are grating for the first ten minutes, but they soon fade into the background. I wasn't quite sure of the logic surrounding that decision.

Solid picture, reminiscent of The Usual Suspects in many ways. Worth the watch.

Execution was off in a few places, but this still makes for a very, very enjoyable film. Choi Min-sik as the big-shot CEO gives an excellent performance, though when does he not?

The courtroom scenes were the weakest part of this movie. I'm not sure what due process is like in Korea, but I can't imagine it's like how it occurs here...

Solid political/espionage thriller.

I could swear though that there was another Korean film, perhaps three or four years ago, that covered virtually the same ground. I was getting hardcore dèja vu throughout because of it.

Truly awful. I had flashbacks to Rush Hour 3 whilst watching this: the gradual retarding of the main players; the increasingly cringe-worthy dialogue; the hackneyed inclusion of Marcus's rediscovery of the Christian faith; the fact that DJ Khlad was there AT ALL - all of these assisted, like the Chinese death by a thousand bites, the destruction of the series.

And how did Lawrence manage to get even fatter?

Nothing new to add to the genre, and clearly a cash grab by using the Ip Man name. Not bad, but nothing great either.

Enjoyed this. It had a gritty realism to it in parts which has been almost entirely lacking in Korean films for over a decade. Worth watching.
