This movie felt way too predictable and the acting is pretty weak. I love Jake Gyllenhaal's work, but this script didn't do him any favors. I felt like I saw the ending coming from a mile away, and I feel like this could've been played out a whole lot better. It is an interesting idea, but it feels copy-pasted from the original film that only predates this one by a couple of years.
This movie was far ahead of its time. After watching it recently, I realize how incredibly obvious its B-movie humor and script is. This is an excellent (terrible) movie, and I truly enjoyed it.
This is one of my favorite black comedies of all time, and it definitely deserves to be on a list or ten. This cast could not be any better, and man, does Bruce Dern give the performance of a lifetime. I think I quote this movie more than any other.
I love and cherish these stories. They remind me of being a kid at my grandma's log cabin, curled up by the fireplace, absolutely glued to the TV. The Wind in the Willows just absolutely warms my heart.
