Fascinatingly bad.

So aggressively mediocre and low-effort, I found it almost sickening. Felt like a movie made by AI

Just more of the same, with a few more ideas taken from the Raid 2 (which is a way better movie) - the action scenes become implausible and even somewhat tiresome early on. And it's too long. But overall, a pretty good time. Not worth the $20 I stupidly paid for it on Amazon.

I guess I'm in the minority again. I got super smoky to watch this and there were parts that were funny and inventive, but halfway through I didn't know what the plot was, who the characters were, what was going on or why I should care.

A review on Rotten Tomatoes said it "benefits from the current low bar." That seems correct.

This might come off as a bit dull to fans of the original film. The elegance and suspense of the original isn't replaced by much of substance here good enough to justify a remake. For Miike, this movie is very... restrained. Honestly, that might not have been the right way to go. A better way to respect Kobayashi's film would've been to either A) not remake it, or B) distinguish the remake much more. I'd recommend watching the original Harakiri again over watching this rather forgettable iteration.

I love both Cronenberg and Viggo, but this was too heavy, confusing, and ultimately boring for me.

This was very good. Similar in theme to the recent outing "X."

Very good. Cool action sequences, original characters, good cinematography, an involved and affecting story of rescue from the clutches of evil.

The positives and negatives of the cop and the gangster's worlds and outlooks are measured in interesting ways as they both compete and cooperate in order to capture "the devil" - but in the end, it is violence that made this devil the devil that he is. Good film.

It came on TV, I turned the volume down and looked up at it from my laptop every once in a while and I think that qualifies as watching it

A very good and original action film that stands on its own from the other Predator movies. Hulu has proven itself with action

This ruled. It came at the right time for me. Slightly better are its British cousins, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and Bridge over the River Qwai, but whatever. Great characters, pacing, plot, dialogue - what's not to like?

As usual, this will be very unpopular. This movie is incoherent, poorly paced, doesn't make sense on many levels and is offensively woke - by this I mean the "peg the patriarchy" business behind the female characters fighting with dildos while a couple male bad guys are compelled to put phallic things in their asses... I don't know how useful or positive the underlying message is. The antagonist of the film was particularly underdeveloped, nonsensical and masturbatory. Some parts were still enjoyable and cool, and it was good representation for Chinese Americans.

I enjoy being at the bottom of the comments! Please put me there.

If you've watched a lot of horror movies, this isn't worth it.

A brilliant film, necessary for our time. The evils of bureaucracy crawl into our lives more and more every day.

Surprisingly good; asks some provocative theological questions, like the slightly superior The Wailing.

Tbh this was really funny. Just don't expect Shakespeare and you'll have a good time. George Carlin shows up! That's sophisticated, right?

Really depressing, but much deeper than you would expect it to be. As is so often the case, the real monsters are those still alive.

A lot of bad stuff here, but you know what, there was just enough originality to make it fun. Good, messed up twist and then an entertaining finale. But the first two thirds are really dumb.

The climax of it all is fairly good actually, nonetheless it's a pretty dull bad movie, not very entertaining.

The old dog shambling in to the mother in the dream, the young puppy crawling on the bookshelf in summer, and the distant barking heard in several places: all are the same dog. Time is an illusion; we are woven into it by consciousness and memory.

A great and powerful but "difficult" movie.
