Compared with Man, we have to admit that the insect does not display what we can describe as intelligence. But don't feel too proud about that, because where there is no intelligence, there is also no stupidity.
I didn't forget, it shows up as uncredited on IMDb (which is the source) so you might need to check with IMDb. From what I understand the original director was Mario Bonnard and Leone and the scriptwriters stepped in to finish the film due to Bonnard's ill health.
Thanks for your research! I updated the list as per your comments, hope it's OK now. Inherent Vice added as well even though it's in post-production yet :)
I discovered that 3 films are missing from your list. This is really weird since the source link on Criterion website is also missing them... but I can verify that these films are indeed included in the box set:
Aleksandr Nevskiy (1938)
Ukikusa (1959)
Ivan Groznyy: Skaz vtoroy - Boyarskiy zagovor (1958)
Thanks! I will add these (seems they all qualify), I thought I did add In the Mouth of Madness (which is among my favorites from Carpenter), but don't see it so thanks for spotting it!
Furthermore, to back my case - Rower has 64 votes on IMDb (which to my understanding is indeed lost since "Due to a mix-up in the laboratory, only part of the film was processed and returned to Polanski") whereas Lanton Mills by Malick (which is not a lost film, but "only the AFI scholars are allowed to view the film. The film cannot be copied or checked out") has 66 votes...
Well, that's the problem, you cannot please everyone, when something is missing people start complaining, when full filmography is added, it's not good again for some, I'm in a tough spot here. I've decided to include everything as per IMDb. I've learned there are less complaints when more is added rather than less :) Regarding "lost" films they can also sometimes be found ;)
