An unpredictable character-driven film carried by two outstanding performances from Ben Mendelssohn and Ryan Reynolds (Reynolds best performance in quite a while)
Overlong, weakly plotted, anticlimactic and kinda betrays the new formula by replacing it with the old one, making Bond pretty much invincible again and not the vulnerable type which made Craig's interpretation so compelling. Waltz's character was underwritten and has far too little screen time. Otherwise a solid film, which stands superior to most Bond installments.
While it's not as unnerving as the first, it sure is a vast improvement over the inconsistent Chapter 2. Worth seeing for Lin Shaye, who elevates the movie with yet another strong performance in a genre far too often absent from it.
For those who enjoyed the predecessor as much as I do, steer clear from this cheap sequel. It is short on tension, overly reliant on jump scares and tries to utilize "scary" children which rarely works in horror movies.
