Main actress stinks, just like her character - there was something off-putting about her, so i was thinking... she feels like a type that would be (sexually) involved with some pathetic old man (producer, director...) in order to make her career. So i checked her and... ''surprise, surprise''...
She is also a cosmonaut, wow... what else?
Film itself also stinks. Only by checking and disliking some stuff is giving them too much credit - and this is one of them.
Not much of a bitva (battle) either, mostly just amateurish script and production. I would like to see some actually good or decent motion picture about brave and heroic woman or women, even if it's Soviet. And of course: with some likable and great actress.
I find also annoying how so many sheep are praising Russia how they have the most beautiful women in the world. Stop with that. Okay, they are generally better than those vastly overestimated Brazilians, for example.
This film is a rare example when i take a break from my usual Spanish&English-language route - and even more rare that i bother with Soviet trash... and not-really-surprisingly - i stumbled to a bad film.
Not dislike-worthy, but surprisingly weak series overall. There is a reason why X-Files is more popular, because it's more dynamic, engaging and simply more interesting.
I guess i expected too much... Lance is an actor that i can watch for hours and if it was someone less likable than him in this role, i would consider this series below-average.
Frank's wife and daughter are not necessary characters. Apart from age difference being noticeable between Megan and Lance - i just do not see them as couple (Frank should be a grandpa to that girl). Those family moments feel so corny and Jordan is at times even cringe-inducing. They slow down the pace of already often very slow-paced and monotonous series. Pacing is really off most of the time.
Of course - there is some potential here and there if you can overlook some boring and/or cheesy filler.
Paquita Rico = an unsung beauty of Spanish-speaking world.
Too bad that these super-old films do not have even nearly appealing quality as this actress.
I know that many of you feel sort of obligated to praise/like/respect/whatever these oldies, but i am certainly not with you.
Take for example this film - beside main actress' screen presence and unusual charm, there are some enchanting tunes - it's a Spanish music and of course it will be great. And... that's pretty much it as for positive things about this film.
Everything else: super-outdated production, laughable acting, stinky plot... I am glad that i was not living in that time (at least my soul does not ''remember'' it || if you believe in that sort of stuff || ).
Imagine living in the period between '20s and '50s for example - no internet, hardly something on television, no access to so many motion pictures like nowadays. Just waiting once a month to watch some boring cringe-worthy junk in cinema.
Promising, interesting start... yet falls apart somewhere in the second part of the first season. I found the series downright bad + boring, despite Kate del Castillo being great as always.
Ending suggests third season, but who really cares... It's very much a step down from Kate's previous crime series.
It sure does not have that cool factor of Dueños del Paraiso and it is even more certain that it does not have the quality of second and especially first season of La Reina del Sur.
But hey, let's add a positive thing about Ingobernable: it does not have a silly annoying fat girl (third season of LRdS) that so unconvincingly beats people in martial arts style and listening to bad music (robotic auto-tune or whatever-you-call-it vocals)...
Also you have to admit that telenovela (''soap opera'') style/approach from Telemundo and similar studios does have its charm (despite lower budget) - something that these Netflix series lack.
Far from satisfying extended version of one of the most unique films ever made. These brothers are not bad, just not very interesting. Jake Busey and Asian kid are irritating, Fuller girl somewhat boring.
Robert Patrick as Jacob is a nice touch, but he didn't stay very long. Latino ranger has a very likable screen presence, but his character does not grab too much attention.
Eiza Gonzalez is the real star of this show. Title of these series should be Santanico Pandemonium. Main focus should have been her and Carlos.
Yes, the show lost its charm somewhere in the middle of second season (i agree with many comments), even though it never had that ''wow'' factor in any moment. Just decent.
And third season is really a complete failure/misfire,
despite some inclusions of cool and beautiful Latino stars like Ana de la Reguera.
Cannot say i was not entertained at times. This series pays homage to many horror films of the past. Beside obvious (Exorcist 1973), i also noticed John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, End of Days with Arnold and even a little bit of Terminator.
There are some similar visual tricks in one episode, like Kubrick did (maze in Shining).
Many themes and stuff jumbled together, fast-paced, frenetic, trippy and slightly comical = typical Alex de la Iglesia. In other words: all these could have been handled in a subtle manner and without CGI exaggeration.
I also did not really like how Megan Montaner's character was sexually exploited. Megan is a beautiful and sexy gal, but that was not really necessary - to make her somewhat slutty.
Priest (Fernandez) was simply not very interesting. If i would make my edit of this series - would delete as many of his scenes as possible. And of course all those crappy-looking monster scenes, because that stuff belongs in some dumb Hollywood motion picture for kids, or at best: video game.
One of the worst films ever made. So dumb and uninspired - it's clear that it wants to be the ''vehicle'' of that bald, silly-looking and totally uninteresting main actor.
And he co-wrote this garbage - so that explains (among other things) why would guy like him be in the marriage or any sort of relationship with someone like Barbara Mori. Not only that, but he is (both literally and metaphorically) a blind cunt who cheats Barbara with some other woman.
Well, the thing is... that's pretty much how often film or TV industry works. That Brickman must have some serious connections, therefore he indulged himself to boost his little irrelevant self in this pathetic way.
I appreciate how Barbara tends to try something ''new'' or different, but i would rather re-watch her as femme fatale a la Rubi, than some mousy geeky family woman with glasses who puts up with some ugly boring idiot of her husband/partner/whatever-he-would-be.
At times somewhat fun, also sort of boring and even annoying - especially when Christopher Lloyd shows up.
I cannot imagine anyone genuinely liking it, unless it's for purely nostalgic reasons.
So... this is supposed to be cute or what ? Nah.
Screw this perverted peasant Bigas Luna. There: i said it.
Also, two (at least) very annoying elements in this hack-work:
- child over-voice
- ugly middle-aged idiot in relationship with gorgeous woman
Actually i finished watching this laughably contrived mess around year ago, but deliberately left it unchecked because i naively expected that it will continue in order to somehow improve or redeem itself. It seems i was/am wrong...
That fat Pejaković who wrote this is a severely deluded and silly little man. He should just stick to acting (minor roles).
This series had potential to be a really strong straightforward vigilante type of stuff. Unfortunately, fatty decided to make his own QT type of structure with pathetic ''art'' pretensions.
That Savanović who played other Kosta is terribly miscast. Many really strong acting performances here (to say something positive), but sadly trapped in some cretin's screenplay.
I have to mention busty hot Milica Janevski (
she is mine
) - talents like her deserve attention.
Beware of those almost 9.0 IMDb overrated ex-Yu stuff.
It's incredible how attitude/opinion can change in time - originally i found this film to be disappointing, but upon recent re-watch i find it very unique - hardy anything dislike-worthy about it.
That mall setting is such a great idea and do not accept those fast-moving zombies from remake. These ones are the real thing - and i say this as someone who enjoyed playing video game Left 4 Dead.
Original Night still remains a classic, not sure i would put it over or below Dawn,
but i will say this: colorized '68 original and Argento's edit/cut of Dawn are on the par in my world.
And, and, and... Day still remains my fave as it always has been.
While there are semi-gems from Romero like Martin,
it's his original Dead trilogy that is a real highlight of his filmography.
Also not sure what you exactly mean by ''scientifically designed, well classified'' - i only see that you listed the most popular Asia's films. But hey: it's not a big deal. Honestly, i overacted a little bit because i was expecting way more than only 20 films.
Well, i expected that response from you. But you should read my description, Tina darling. Do not take that word 'whole' literally. I will certainly not include some films where actors have a small role or cameo, like Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz in Los amantes pasajeros , for example.
I remember Asia having small or simply not big enough roles in La chiesa and La Reine Margot for me to include them (but i admittedly haven't seen those films in a long time so i am not 100% sure). Those roles are certainly not remarkable like an iconic role of Salma Hayek in From Dusk Till Dawn, for example.
I am aware that i came off somewhat contradictory, but i can take some critiques and you feel free to elaborate with me about anything you want.
Asia should be honored that such passionate film-lovers like you and me made two lists about her filmography.
Only... again, your list should just be named ''top 20'', querida.
2 downvotes already for my previous comment? Don't be so sensitive. Oh well, i guess i will just have to make the list myself. But really, think about it: when you type ''filmography'' - it's logical to think that it's the whole filmography. You could do it my style and that is rank of what you have watched and rest of what you have not watched to be placed chronologically.
Don't see this as some sort of attack to you, but rather friendly advice.
Franco Nero is arguably the biggest Italian star of this period and this is him at his best, unlike this tiresome ultra-cliche film. That opening/closing song/tune is like the lamest thing ever.
It's an odd thing... i re-watched this many times and it still is not among my faves.
We do not need those background stories of Saxon, Kelly and even Lee. Also that underground interaction between Han and Saxon is not necessary and it slows down the pace. You gotta ''love'' how Han presented his daughters as his personal bodyguards, yet we never see them ever after.
That mirror sequence is sort of lame - i feel like i am the only one who does not like it.
Flawed plot indeed, especially for such an acclaimed film.
Those underground fight scenes is by far the best part of the film and of course Lalo Schifrin's music.
