This may be the best of the sequels. That's not really saying a whole lot though. It's the only film of the original franchise, other than the original, that doesn't earn a dislike from me.
In an era with little originality in films comes his breath of fresh air. It's amazing how one can become so engaged in the story that the set seems not to be a factor. The ending was one of the most satisfying that I've seen.
I can't seem to get the theme song out of my head. This film is really bad. It is so cheesy that nobody can forget it. I guess at least it's remembered. Lol! It's so bad that it's actually entertaining to some extent. It's sad to see Max Von Sydow doing garbage like this. It's a big drop off from the Bergman masterpieces of his early career.
This is a very strong contender for the worst film ever made. I could drive around with a camera and make a better film. Ebert's first review was right on.
I loved this film, except for his screaming. I feel that Oskar's growth is a symbol for Germany during that time. He stops growing during the beginning of the Nazi movement and decides to start growing again at the end of the war. Plus, you have to admit that the little guy has some skills at getting women.
I think this is the third best Bunuel. It's not crazy like most of his. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I could feel the emotion of the lead actor at the end. It was very powerful in that regard.
All I can think of is the fact that I have 3 more garbage films to watch in this franchise. Is it me or is it really hard not to want to punch the two lead male actors? I still can't get by the horrendous acting.
I can't find any redeeming qualities about this series whatsoever. The acting is horrible. The plot is laughable. The direction is uninspired. This is designed for an audience that knows nothing about film making. I'm not not really sure how anyone finds this entertaining. This could be the worst movie franchise of all- time.
