The movie begins with a song about how little girls have "those little eyes so helpless and appealing, one day will flash will have you crashing through the ceiling" . Near the end we're treated to another creepy song where Gaston starts out singing about how Gigi is only a child and ends up talking about how good she looks in a dress." Of course the actress was in her 20's when this was made but, apparently the character was supposed to be about 16. the theme makes this pretty creepy or funny depending on your predilection
BASED! In some ways this is an anti-western. It turns a black-light on the hasty, gun-slinging pursuit of justice portrayed in other movies of the era. Henry Fonda brings his usual charisma and elevates an already fantastic movie.
Watching this movie is a bizarre experience. It looks like five different people with varying degrees of familiarity with the source material were given the title and told to write a script. Then they did their damndest to shove it all into one movie.
