Not sure how to feel as I cannot tell if this is biased for the sake of trying to convince me that John Mark Byers is guilty or to show the audience how people can be swayed into believing someone is guilty based on perception and without physical evidence as was the case for the three that were convicted in part 1. Either way I was very bothered by the smugness of the members of the Echols support group, most notably Burk Saul and Kathy Bakken. They managed to piss me off more in this one than the incompetence of the defense in the first one.
I would say about 90% of it was just fluffy build up for the ending dream sequence. But the "feels" at the end were so overwhelming that it made it all worth it.
Is anyone really determined to complete this list? This would require one to see ALL animated, super hero, and films based on young adult books released each year through the date of your death.
These lists also need to be capped, once they reach a certain size I just give up. I enjoy this site as it allows a hobby of mine to have some direction/goals/milestones. But if I were to actively attempt to view 600 movies, I feel this hobby would start to venture into the realm of addiction/obsession.
Complete garbage, constantly strings you along with each episode leading the viewer to believe a new suspect each week that is suddenly proven innocent at the last minute but only after their life is completely ruined as a result of terrible police work. Also seems as though the city of Seattle is populated by a total of 50 people that are all connected. The ultimate resolution and motive for killing is unsatisfactory and the character of the killer just suddenly changes just during the last episode for the purposes of wrapping up the "mystery". The pilot was amazing and aciting by Kinnaman was great but not worth 26 hours of your time.
Did the formula suddenly change? Last I checked, I was missing 9 and now I'm missing 19, this list is a real moving target.
Edit: 8/29/16: Appears IMDB has added a new list for Bollywood movies, so the problem has resolved itself. (Not sure why my initial comment got downvoted. Didn't think I said anything upsetting.)
What did I just watch? This was either over my head, or pointless. Was he just experimenting with nearly unrelated dialogue with a singular constant? Because I found little in the dialogue other than the fact that each conversation is almost entirely unique.
The film was shot very well. However, I thought the antagonist was too predictable(or I have just seen to many thrillers). I called nearly everything right from the start of the investigation. As I said it was shot very well, so the reveal and everything leading up to it was thrilling none the less.
The ending was so predictable. He's an illusionist it says it in the title so why would I not assume that everything is an illusion. I don't see the point in speaking in accents either if the dialogue is English, just speak plainly. And they also did a poor job coveying that the prince was evil, all I got from his behavior and dialogue was that he was difficult to deal with, everything else was just rumors.
Best explanation I found online for the division of opinions on this film:
"Two men stood before a picture-frame mounted on a white wall. Within the frame there is only utter white.
The first man is an art student and is gushing with praise, citing the insight, the profound and bold statements the artist is making, the depth of his vision and the social commentary the artist is Obviously making.
The other man is an interior decorator, and is shaking his head in bewilderment, wondering how on earth someone got paid so much for sticking a nail in a wall and hanging a frame on it.
Their argument is eternal: Which one doesn't 'get' it?"
I had not trouble interpreting the film in my own light. However, I am more inclined to be agree with the "interior decorator." Why take nearly 3 hours? What am I supposed to be interpreting during the facial close-ups? If we were supposed to interpret the dialogue why did it move so quickly? Wouldn't it be better to have them speak longer and allow me to interpret after the credits role? These are the reasons why I am inclined to agree that this film is pretentious.
Nothing special, tells the cliche story of any one involving an institution. A new person comes in, he struggles to assimilate, but by the end he helps everyone work through their personal problems, and changes everyone's life before he moves on with his.
They begin by having Alicia ride by on a horse to re spark a relationship with Sebastian. Ingrid Bergman only gets one "in all the gin joints in all the world" moments. Are we as an audience just supposed to accept that Sebastian is a lovelorn moron that suspects nothing. Continuing. Sebastian is now aware of Devlin and what he looks like. I know it is 1946 but spy 101 is not have the spyee know what the contact looks like and it goes without saying that the spy not meet up with the known contact openly.
As per usual, Hitchcock built up the suspense and I found myself caring for Alicia's well being. And per usual (atleast for me) I hated Cary Grant. I found myself screaming at my television telling Devlin to frak off and not blow her cover.
I understand that Cary Grant is a highly regarded actor. But I do not agree that he is fit for every role. He plays an overconfident dick very well. So he was perfect for films such as Bringing up Baby, Arsenic and Old Lace, and personal favorite His Girl Friday because each film called for an overconfident dick. This film needed a spy or just about anyone with common sense.
I apologize again for my rant. I just find that the members of this site do more to reconcile my feelings toward a movie better than imdb, where they correct my spelling/grammar and tell me that I am too young to appreciate film.
just finished watching this show. Up until the finale I honestly believed this show to be a top ten drama of all time. i have seen a lot of shows start to finish but i have nver seen a bigger failure in an ending in my entire life. The writer whose name does not even deserve to be remembered, was clearly making it up as he went along. George r r Martin summed it up best, the ending can be summarized in three words "God did it". I hate spoilers but the ending is so bad that I have spoiled nothing for no one.
If you do watch this show please take my advice watch every episode up until the finale and think up an ending of your own. I will never be able to unsee that episode, I just hope my little rant will help save innocent minds.
The first story had a great premise but ran on too long. The second was short and sweet. It got the point across then moved on, which I liked. The third story was my favorite. The two legendary Italian actors played off one another so well. Also the striptease really "peaked" my interest.
The guy just wasn't funny and his life wasn't interesting. He drank, and did drugs while working....who cares. It must be a generational gap (born 1989).
