Beautifully shot, though at times unnecessarily experimental. Unfortunately, the audio has some of the worst mixing I've ever heard. It's nearly impossible to hear anything that is said, either by the interviewer or the film's subject.
Other than its lead, Contact is bizarrely casted, idiotically pretentious while also managing to softball religion and what passes for philosophy ("Occam's Razor, you ever heard of it?"), and ultimately devolves into the least subtle imitation of Kubrick's 2001 with none of the awe.
All the visual gloss of an art film, but it isn't. Inside Llewyn Davis relies almost entirely on contrivances (chasing a cat, losing the car keys) and has no real plot to speak of.
Astounding content in this film. The sexuality/perversity is really the lowest rung in terms of what shocks here. Its revelations border on the sublime.
A movie which is simply made and deeply constructed. One can pick apart its nuances, which in their details are subtle and ingenious, utilizing, not plot, but gestures and stares--these are there, but all the time it is a beautifully shot, sweet film. Never difficult, but rich.

A fascinating, if over-explained, story marred by a too-involved director. A more detached, Errol Morris treatment of this would have worked better.Movie comment on Vivre sa vie: Film en douze tableaux
