Incredible film. This is one movie that deserves the NC-17 rating and am happy it got it because there's just too much that would have had to be cut to earn an R-rating.

Ozu's Tokyo Story is finally on the list!!! Please keep it on here. Please. It needs to be seen by more people. Hopefully Tarkovsky will one day make it back on to the list.

Um, how the hell is this sci-fi?! WTF IMDB?! It may have moments involving nature but it's hardly sci-fi.

This is a great little under-seen gem of an indie film. It's a relief to have a revenge movie that doesn't end the way one has been accustomed to see these days.

I started with 8 1/2, liked it the first time I watched it. Bought La Strada and watched it three times that weekend. Months later I watched La Dolce Vita and then returned to 8 1/2, and that instantly became my favorite film of all time. However the other three films I named, are all masterpieces as well.

What a delightful little comedy! The chase scene with the sounds of a football game was pure genius! I absolutely loved this movie.

It may not have a "proper" ending but I think it ended perfectly.

Hey I just realized they updated the list. I was really sad to see some movies get removed. But it more than made up for it by including many movies that I love. But still, High School Musical and Mamma Mia? Also Watchmen? Why is Troy still on it, there are way better action/adventure/epic movies worthy of being on there instead. 300 is another that's like wtf!
All the others are excellent choices. Well, The Mummy is also questionable but everything else I like.

Absolutely loved it! Didn't know Lean could make such a delightful comedy nor that Charles Laughton could be so funny. Great cast, direction, and always visually interesting. Loved it.

What an amazing film. The camera work is phenomenal! To me the end of the film comes when the night watchmen puts the coat over the doorman in the bathroom. That's the true ending of the story, as Murnau obviously knew. Unfortunately somebody decided to tack-on a happy ending. But it matters not. What happens before that is a film worthy of being called a masterpiece. I mean c'mon, it's just so obvious.

A highly underrated movie. I thought it was excellent. Pretty depressing stuff. Really wanna read the book.

It may not be as great as Vertigo, the film it is so obviously inspired by, but it's certainly worth a look in my opinion. I mean it has de Palma's typical stylish filmmaking, beautifully shot by Vilmos Zsigmond, and of course a Hitchcockian vibe throughout that is further enforced by one of Bernard Herrmann's best scores. What more could you ask for? Sure the plot is a bit implausible but who the hell cares?

This is an incredible piece of documentary filmmaking. The river and the mountain climbing scenes are astonishing. Never would have thought of fording a river the way they do. Might be one of the greatest documentaries I have ever seen.

It'd be nice if they added the alternate titles. At the very least the most known name for the movie, Samurai Rebellion.

One of the best films of the '90s. David Thewlis gives a brilliant performance. It's a shame the Academy overlooked it.
