The behind the scenes is quite good too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq-DlHxPEBY

I couldn't get past how cruel it was.

The changes made to the story are absolutely baffling. I really can't believe they made Joanna's husband a hero. It's completely at odds with the point of the original story. And the new ending is insane.

I would love to know what Levin thought about this version.

Very frustrating. I was ahead of the film the entire time, I was just waiting for it to catch up. I agree with topichtennis - the first section is pretty good, but the second half felt underdeveloped. Characters stop acting in a believably human way, and it's very frustrating to have to sit through it.

Pretty disgusting in a modern context

I assume Henry Fonda studied my grandfather when preparing for the role

A wholesome, feel-good delight.

It's such a shame this film will be overshadowed by dull, overwrought and award-vehicle bio-pics in the coming months. I hope I'm wrong, as this is the film that shows the genre can be great too.

I can almost see this become a cult film years
down the line. It's so absurd.

Zian should go down as one of the great film heroes.

Pretty good. Engaging story and great cast. I found the symbolism a little heavy handed though, and there's a lot of subtext just plainly stated in dialogue. Still quite good though, and I feel like there's a ton to unpack with this film.

Cooper and Bergman were definitely not what I pictured Robert Jordan and Maria to be like at all. And I agree with the other comments that it was too long.

The line "You did everything a man could" really breaks my heart.

Probably my favourite Woody Allen film.

I can't place the reason why I was disappointed with the finale. Probably because everything leading up to the last 30 minutes is really strong. Regardless though, the film is very well directed, with great performances and a stellar soundtrack.

Took me a little longer to warm up, but when I did I realized I enjoyed far more than the first.

Really didn't like the final shot. Would have been much better left unsaid in my opinion.

The worst film i had to sit through in 2010 i think.

Quite possibly my favourite film. It saddens me that it wasn't received well.

Felt the last 20 minutes are so started to drag, but loved the complete range of emotions shown throughout the film.
