This is not a boring film. Of couse, being categorized as horror and sci-fi does not help, because you should not expect the typical horror or sci-fi effects.

I consider this a dystopian road movie, but not set in a barren desert, for a change, but in the central american jungle. This is part Elysium and part Cloverfield, I would say.

From the very beginning you know things will go wrong, just when? But you will also never doubt the outcome in the end.

There are some minor flaws in the script, but they do not affect the overall atmosphere - which is unique and very well crafted.

A very rewarding deep dive into the real and the metaphysical questions of our world.
Hope, loyalty, courage, but also addiction, fear and the effects of a dysfunctional health care system, all under the magnifying glass of the Berliner pub culture.

I may, of course, have a noble loser bias here.

This movie was introduced as the best sci-fi movie since Ex Machina. Maybe it is. Possibly because I am really really tired of the never ending series of superhero flics.

But there are a number of illogical elements in the story, and few characters I could really connect with. A good and entertaining film, but definitely not top-notch material.

I am comparing this movie to its contemporary works of French comedy - des Funes - and the conclusion is crystal clear: Les ripoux aged well, the characters have depth and charisma, the humor is subtle and timeless. The story is light , the ending is wholesome. I recommend.

This is a really enjoyable little gem for an evening with friends. At just 70 min playing time it makes the most of the setting and never gets boring.

Fun Fact: I watched this movie on a flight to a vacation, 6 weeks ago. This morning, in the shower, I tried to remember the story. Any tiny part of it (apart from the moon falling, obviously) but I couldn't. I neither remembered why the moon was falling, how it was detected, nor if and how the world was saved.

From very early into the movie my tiny brain's entire capacity was consumed by the (fruitless) attempt to decipher the symbolism. That's the reason why I totally missed the plot. But then I wondered, perhaps there was no plot at all, just a message. But I missed that too.

So what is remaining? 100 minutes of movie time that were never boring and engaged my from the very beginning.

After many years you might think you will not remember much of this film - but then you get these five seconds with „True Romance“ written in shiny blue letters against the dark view of Detroit and Hans Zimmer‘s „You‘re so cool“ theme - and a voice in the back of your head will say: I know this movie.

A very intense movie, but not packed. Belongs into the Western Top list.

A well crafted story, no surprising twists, but a balanced insight into a very specific part of AI and the future. I couldn‘t help it and had to think the core question over for myself too.

I agree. To many great movies have fallen for the Avengers and X-Men franchise.

The film is a captivating portrait of of provincial Germany in WWII. Berlin is far away, the frontline seems far away, but there is a local battle between an artist and a policeman, between their personalities, different sources of moral authority: Humanitarian principles or obedience and duty.

It‘s also a hommage to the rough and unique landscape of Schleswig-Holstein, my Home Country.

It‘s a good watch, but not nearly as deep as the original book.

This is a very good comedy, with great perfomances, timeless witty dialogue. I am surprised this film isn't on any list.

I can‘t comprehend the bad reviews here. If your watch movies because you must be challenged, need unpredictable twists and flawless political correctness, then so be it. Simple folks like me just wish to be entertained, and entertaining it was. Likeable characters, a couple of laughs, I liked the movie. 8/10

To all the people who enjoyed this movie, as I did, do not miss out on the original book. It is even better.

Why you would take the U3 from Merkenstrasse to go shopping and also walk home via the old Elbtunnel totally escapes me. :-)

Thank you, icheckmovies, for letting this movie appear on so many lists. I became curious because I had never heard of it - and I was not dissapointed. Neither were my kids. Tears were involved, and laughter, and the occasional blanket over the head. But this is a very entertaining movie, no lengths at all.

To some other commenters:
I don't watch movies to solve riddles of symbolism.

I like food for thought, I like images to remember and I like a good story. This movie has all of it. It also shows a lot of what was great about America (I am writing this in 2018). It doesn't push or haste through the story, it flows and lets you float with it.

Agreed. Worst movie ever. Not a sign of the clumsy likeability of a B- or C-Movie. Just bad in every aspect. Even my teenage son asked to drop it.
