Certainly not the movie of the year but it sure is a lot of fun. If you go into it with the right mindset it's a brilliant, albeit pretty predictable, adventure flick. Also Pikachu is insanely adorable.
Great ending to an okay series. Followed the book alright, the added stuff was great, and the major characters were all brilliant. There could've been a better goodbye for the dwarves though, with an actual story about what happened to them and not just Bilbo. But the best thing was the transition to LOTR. Might've made me tear up a bit...
Good movie, great acting, great effects, all that. But I kinda feel the split of the book shows too much. There's no real climaxe to this movie because there's just no climaxe in the middle of a book. Still a good movie but it just really comes off as a build up for the last one, which it obviously is. But, honestly, this could've all just been one movie and we'd all be happy. Instead we have to wait another year for the end which feels kinda unnecessary.
So THAT'S why Jesus is white! No, but seriously, I spent the whole film wondering why Oldman was white, because if he really was 14000 years old he most certainly wouldn't be. Kinda ruined the illusion.
Totally okay movie, and actually pretty similar to the book. A lot of the details were obviously not included (as always when a book is filmed), and for that reason I think it really helps knowing the story and characters from before, although my friend who had no idea what was going to happen understood most of the plot.
The story was basically the same and the plot holes from the book were still there, with some added ones. For example one thing that was never explained was why the factions are secluded from eachother, and especially why the initiates don't get to meet their families etc. Actually they're just kept in seclusion to get used to their new factions and they do get to meet their parents again after a few weeks. After that they get jobs and sometimes socialize with other factions, but mostly keep to themselves to "keep the peace". Things like that were really sketchy and if I hadn't read the books I don't think the faction system would make sense to me at all.
The ending was also changed, with the
simulation being shut off by Jeanine rather than IT knowledgeable Four/Tobias
and
them running away for seemingly no reason, whereas in the book they go to Amity to meet with the other Dauntless because their home quarters have been destroyed
.
The most annoying thing for me though was that almost all male characters looked exactly the same which constantly made me confuse Al with Will and Peter. I literally thought they were just one guy, then two, then at the end was shocked at finding out there was a third one.
That little kid was annoying as heck. The film itself was alright (but it'll never be as good as Jumanji which is very nostalgic for me), and I liked the game and the look of it all. Loved the zorgons. They were really pretty scary. But I do not understand
the Walter paradox... when did he wish away his brother? He's only played it once, so how could he be the astronaut and also the kid? I'm guessing different timelines but still, it just doesn't make sense.
Honestly I was kind of disappointed with this film. Yes, the story is horrifying (in a good, REAL way), and the acting was okay (not as mindblowing as I had heard it was going to be), but the title is kind of misleading... it felt like 12 days/months a slave rather than 12 years. It felt rushed while at the same time being rather long, if that makes sense? Basically the passing of time felt unnatural. At the end I almost wondered how the hell Solomon had managed to stay 12 years
on the road back to Sanatoga
. Good film, with an incredibly important subject that really needs to be remembered, but it just wasn't amazing.
So much better than the first one. SO. MUCH. BETTER. Except for the romance stuff, I could've done without that. But the rest was just brilliant. Smaug was terrifying and Thranduil was mesmerising. Just amazing!

I'm actually surprised at how good this was. Not the best film ever, mind you, but it was really good for a random action flick.Movie comment on Nice, Carnaval (N° 1)
