I wasn't expecting that final duel between Mifune and Nakadai's characters to have such a violent and bloody end, especially when the movie had been bloodless up to that point. That definitely caught me off-guard
It may be less funnier than SOTD or Hot Fuzz (still funnier than most comedies) but it's the most thematically complex. And the most weird. Gripping stuff.
